For that kind of money, I'd get this:

You could also get a set of Bareknuckle Flat 50s from the same place that listed the Duesenberg (I also have a set that I MIGHT part with).
Then get a 4 way switch put in for humbucking goodness.
Schnikes has that set up on his Tele if you want more info.

The pickups remind me of the ones ovation used to put in the viper models.
I'm not one of those people that thinks "my guitars are the only guitars worth a damn and everything else is crap", but I have never played a doucheburger (i mean...a dusenberg) that I thought was worth the sticker price.
I mean they are made in korea for cryin out loud. (Bodies/necks are korean. They might be finished there too and I think the hardware might be german)
I find them to be mediocre guitars for the asking price.
OH and the one pictured looks VERY Reverend-ish to me.

I'd definitely go with a Reverend over a Duesenberg.

Not sure Syl would be happy with a Reverend either though. He might be, but I'm not sure.

What I like about Duesenberg is the neck and scale.
I'm not into the Gibson type of scale, especially SG... I feel like my hands are too big for them.

Never tried a Reverend... but they look awesome.

I wouldn't pay that price for the Duesy. I would prefer to spend that on something like a Koll.

I think that Duesenberg would look a lot better with only two pickups instead of three. As it is, it just kind of looks busy to me.

From what you've said Syl, I don't think this Duesenberg would be the guitar for you anyway. Mr Nelson has some new guitar models coming up, maybe you should look into one of those?

I must say I agree with the Nelson man here.
Duesenberg really doesn't make great guitars in my opinion, I honestly don't know why they got picked up by some artists, most of them (at least the ones I played) sound to me like el cheapo's, dry, nasal and thin with too little midrange and low end.
good deals with: the_brow, phantasmagorovich, alexsga, DarkAxel, goroth, The Wood Wizard, Tendollarcat, vbps, monkeydancer, intothegroove, Brobee

I wouldn't worry too much about the shorter scale. I prefer 25.5" scale too, but I switch between that, 24.75" and 24" all the time and to be honest don't notice a ton of difference, especially between 24.75" and 25.5".

Wow! I had no idea those guitars cost 2.5K whilst being crafted in Korea. Madness!

No disrespect to Syl but except for those two pickups; that's pretty much everything I don't like on one guitar...

I've only played a Duesenberg once and I thought it was pretty nice overall but they are easily one of the most overpriced brands out there... Would not pay half of what they ask for new..

The Deimel looks absolutely gorgeous. As do all of the Nelson Instruments designs. They'd probably be the top brands I'd be looking at if I wanted something new, and ones that actually seem well worth the price of admission.
