I'm not a good enough fuzz folklorist to know the history accurately, and I haven't compared schematics in a while, but the Orpheum sounds like a Fuzzrite with a mid-scoop.

i had a marshall supa fuzz clone kit from BYOC that someone else put together
i dont know if this speaks to byoc kits or the circuit itself, but it sounded so bad

IIRC, Standard Fuzz is a close relative of the Super Fuzz (and is the basis of the Verellen Big Spider). The OD-805/809 is a triangle-ish Big Muff with a two-band eq with fixed-value bass. (I think it's a Baxandall/James tone stack. Yes, like Catalinbread did with a control added for the bass band.

Yep the Standard Fuzz is pretty close to a Super Fuzz and is totally what the Big Spider is based off of. Super Fuzz sounds more 'square' to my ears, whereas the Standard Fuzz/Spider have more of a jagged rasp to them

That's pretty much a tonebender I think. The transistors chosen are pretty important there.
