They're reissuing something that didn't sell well in the first place, hasn't had a resurgence in the used market, and which isn't used by any famous guitarists.

Gibson has become a trash scow without a rudder. The only special model I would look forward to from them would be one celebrating Henry's death and good riddance.

Yeah, reissuing these right now is probably a terrible idea...but they're clearly supposed to be ugly. So I can't knock Gibson's colorblind, artblind designers for this one. Just their management. They keep making these new models that the tiniest share of the market wants. If we're looking at the two-party system, Fender's been kicking Gibson's ass all over the place. For every one Fender misstep, Gibson seems to make ten.

I think the problem is that they didn't go far enough with the ugly, need to turn the dial up to 1000. Add some glitter, dolphin inlays, some gold hardware and maybe some flames and shit. Then I would buy it.
