Yeah I was thinking that too. It'll be interesting to see them do FCPSITSGEPGEPGEP in its original form the first night. I wonder if they'll do it as slow, too.

There are minor differences in some of the instrumentation and melodies, I wonder if they'll be that specific about it.
They better do FCPSITSGEPGEPGEP all slow and funky like that.

I really only want to see What Sound Does a Mastodon Make? live. Not just for them doing it live, but in general. Once I see that, I can die happy, because its probably one of my favorite songs of all time. That said, I think I might enjoy Doppleganger as a more a little more just for production value. S/T has some cool songs on it, but I think Doppleganger is just better quality over all. I know Manipulator is not as well received (at least in my peer group), but I'll still enjoy it.

Manipulator had some sick stuff on it, but the production is kind of weird.
& some of the songs are a little gimmicky.
But, you know.... Seattlantis.

I don't know why many people hate their last album. I thought that shit was awesome. I mean lyrically it stuck to breakup shit but other than that the music was fucking killer

Happy to see they're doing this! I've seen them 5 or 6 times and each time was incredible. Tim is really one of my favorite bass players, wish I could see him again.

I just got back to Dallas from Austin. Sadly, I'm missing Manipulator night, and thats kind of my fault. I booked a flight tomorrow, and its a four hour drive between both cities. That and 35 blows, and I didn't want to risk getting stuck in traffic.
Anyway, the shows were awesome! On Thursday they did a Q&A and talked about why they broke up (drugs) and how they plan on making new music but they're going to take their time to do it. Then they were going to do a short set and decided fuck it, lets play for an hour. So they played for an hour. Then hung out afterwards and I got each of the guys to sign the back of my poster. It was great.
Friday and Saturday night were also awesome. They played Ghostships I, II, and V on encore sets. Not IV, so I'm guessing that may get played tonight. I got to see Mastodon not once, but twice, so I'm doubly happy.
Also, Red 7 is a cool venue because they have an inside and outside stage. I much prefer outside stages.

Glad they did some or ghostship. Knew they couldn't resist.
Who was doing the drugs?

All of them. But they said Tim got to a point where he couldn't play bass, and if he stuck around any longer on tour he'd probably die, so they sent him home

Nate from Tera Melos was telling me that Tim got into "rockstar" mode a lot and he got out of hand quite a bit
