I'm really happy with my El Cap and SDD, but if I were to add a third delay I'd probably be seriously considering between the Anamensis or the Endangered Audio AD4096 (especially if the deluxe version I've heard about happens).
Anamensis echo is so great! I run it at 18v and prefer it there. But the modulation is lush, and it can do the perfect ambient delay thing. Or it can do the perfect rhythmic delay thing (DMM), or a great Slapback.
Really can't recommend it enough.

If I had no delays, I'd buy a Digi Time Bender (now discontinued) - tone options, modulation options, different head choices (and tappable heads if you want past fixed intervals), etc.
If I had a Time Bender, I'd buy a RE-20 because pricing on the real Space Echoes are insane these days (and as much as I love mine, I'd never pay current market). It's a large, large percentage of the way to a real one, including the preamp flavoring when the delay is off.
Space Echo is something I leave on *all* the time, period. Even if it's barely in the background or rolled off to 5%.

that's an interesting option

Loved the demos and it's actually affordable (i'll probably need another delay eventually so that's a plus as well to be honest)... The Echobox might also be something to look out for
shit guys, i made a really really really bad thread

really wondering about the Echorec though... anyone? Also... Dirge?
for full disclosure: due to the fact that we're playing quite a few show in the next few months, I might not have the time to sell my Wampler and buy a new delay... this might resolve in using your suggestions for buying a second delay... the criteria stay pretty much the same, but that way. i'd like to keep it uner 200 dollars...
It also might happen that i'll decide not to sell it and just buy a second delay, because i'm like that

The Dirge is really good and I think skully could give you about any options you would want
or monkey dancer was thinking of trading his at one point
To get the sounds you are describing I use a subdecay echobox, it is flipping awesome, has a ton of charachter and works really well
I have a timebender for the weirder stuff but it can do the sounds the echobox does and pretty much the sounds of any other delay I have ever owned If I need it to and take the time to dial it in
Reading above it looks like the timebender is discontinued, which is flipping stupid, If I got a good deal on a second I would probably be purchasing it

If you don't mind adding another power supply, the Blackstar HT delay sounds really nice and warm, and has a really good space echo mode.

i've been wondering about that... i mean... doesn't the photocell act weird live with the lights changing all the time?
Glad to hear good things about Subdecay, not glad for having so many options
After the rehearsal today, i might keep the Wampler and just buy another delay soon, because after all... it still does the job quite well

But yeah, i'd prefer to have something else as well and it just has to be tasty
The Belle Epoch looks cool, but kind of... i don't know... basic?

The Montivillian Echo has this weird thing going on with the repeats and it sounds like no other delay I've tried. It's like pseudo modulation / weird filtering? I don't know, but it has a veeeeery interesting character. It would do very well paired with another delay, but probably not as your only delay because of how specific the sound is.

I dug the monta. Although the repeats nevertheless really it unless I had the filter fully bright. They said big delay, but I didn't see it. Has a very dubby sound.
The Echorec felt BIGGER, but I didn't like the mod enough. Well it is cool, but major PITA to open it up and jack with it. The modulation has this weird tubular sound happening. Hard to explain. Sounds cool, but at times is annoying. Thus why I'd need to be able to use it when needed.
616 is great, but got lost with fuzz it seemed. And at times wasn't loud enough with the repeats. And the knocking regen sound wasn't fluid enough for me.
All that said, the Subdecay cured me of all of the above issues.
Regarding the Belle Epoch.... That thin sound when it trails off would bug me. If that's how tape delays sounds... I'm out. Looks awesome though! Maybe they'll make a space echo pedal!

The Echorec is really amazing sounding. I'm not sure I'd use it as my lone delay but that's cuz I need some more standard sounds available. Lots of great sounds in the Echorec, many of those very unique, def has character.
The ILFDD is great too, nice and warm sounding. The AD4096 is def cool but 300ms was too short for me, it's just so damn expensive, and I'm also holding out for the mythical DLX version which is supposed to be 900ms with tap tempo and Exp/CV. I was told by EAR it was nearing completion but that was several months ago and they've yet to reply to my recent inquires. Oh, and it'll probably be $500+ based on the standard AD4096 price. Madness.
Another good option is the 1776 Multiplex Echo Machine. ILF member LaoWiz built mine but it's a kit by 1776 effects, super cool tape echo style delay. 3 modes to emulate a Binson, Roland Space Echo, and Echoplex plus a momentary stomp to increase and decrease tape speed for the whacked out delay. I like it, lots, sounds fantasic!

Echorec is tits and very characteristic - but not for everyone.
I love the gain structure in it, it REALLY reacts to your playing dynamics. It breaks up beautifully when digging in and the repeats decay into sweet ambience like butter. Totally worth trying out - but remember to adjust gain and modulation internally to suit your rig!
