Are you a Fuck owner who has never tried a Mini?

I like to think of the Mini as an angrier Fuck. Plus if you roll the treble all the way back on the Mini you pretty much have the same roll off as the Fuck, but then you have the bass control to be able to boost/thicken it up a bit!

the mini has a little more gain because some of the signal is tapped off for the threshold envelope. i could have upped the gain overall or lowered the gain in the mini to match it, but i liked that they were similar yet had their own voices since i think they're better at different things. the bass control is cool on the fuck as well of course, but it adds some additional complexity in that it interacts with the threshold control - gets a little cumbersome to have to change like 4 controls if you make 1 small change.

i don't love having so much overlap with things, but dudes were asking for a crackle-less fuck so i figured that i might as well add/change some stuff around on it a little bit as well.

Someone (multiple people) should do a demo of Fuck vs. Mini on bass and guitar... Try to show the unique aspects of each.

If someone lends me a Fuck I can make one as well.

They're pretty interesting pair of pedals. They both do rela tively the same things, but like kodak vs. fujifilm one emphasizes certain aspects more than the other. I mean do you want warm punchy reds and vibrant greens, or cool reds and emphasized blues? (okay enough of my photo geekery) I agree with what skullservnt said about the two. The Mini has more tonal capabilities in my opinion. The treble knob helps me tame or boost highs (well yeah, duh Jared). I kind of wish the bass knob was more focused, if I turn t up too high when recording bass tracks... it kind of takes up space in a bad way. Perhaps it is better in different set ups, but I usually don't go over 9 o clock with it.

The bias knob is where its at though, and this where I prefer the mini over the fuck. To me it does much more thn the krackle mode on a fuck. Full clockwise its really open and clear, in the middle it is more amp like distortion, then as you roll counter clockwise you get that lo fidelity punk rockin stuff that was always a pain in the ass for me to get witht he fuck's krackle mode.

But the way I used the mini and the fuck in a band context... they're pretty interchangeable because I use them as low gain overdrives. If the hi-cut knob on the fuck isn't doing it for you, or if the crackle mode is too fussy at lower gain settings, then get a mini. BUT FUCK MAN, JUST LIKE HAVE BOTH, WHY NOT. I kind of want to get a fuck so I can try them together like mini->fuck then hit that crackle mode and just blow stuff up.

I have both and love both and recently discovered how awesome the Mini sounds on bass, at least through my bass rig. And the fuck, crackle on, end of my chain on guitar is the jams. Fucking jams.

Both sound similar while standing up on their own. Mini has more eq options which makes it more versatile. Fuck has the coolest/best side feature of any pedal; crackle, which I leave always on, making it a full feature, really.

In short, not that this was a long and detailed reply, both are totally justifiable to purchase/own at the same time. For me, I play through four different rigs at any given time. So it makes even more sense. But they're still worth it even in a single rig like skully explained.

interesting thing about the bass control to note - around 10 oclock or so is approximately the sound of the fuck. the bass control is relatively crude and implemented very simply so that may be why it seems a little unfocused with some setups.

No. I'm a Fuck owner who tried a Mini, and I now own two Minis!
And I loved the Fuck... it's just that the Mini is slightly more magicsauce to my ear. AND I can stick two in the approximate space the Fuck was.

It's funny... like clockwork - after every practice - I arrive at work the next morning and feel compelled to express my love for the Mini.
It might not work in every scenario, for everyone; but HFS...
