Yeah sounds kinda like muff to me, although I think the Tone Machine with the octave turned off could do it too.

Get a 4 track with at least 2 inputs for $10.
Jumper the inputs.
Boom, Demo Tape Fuzz (kinda).

I love my demo tape fuzz. But muff like or 4 track tape input overdrive, i don't think it does it.
Just my stupid opinion though.

yeah, i have a 424 and used to do that all the time when i was recording to tape a lot. when you don't have any effect pedals and want a distorted guitar... :lol:

Didn't Cobain do that with "Territorial Pissings"? I thought I remembered reading that he went straight into the mixing board for that song because he wanted it to have an old-school trashy punk sound.
