I've def played some nice Aria Pro II's. One was a set neck LP Studio'ish kinda jam which was great, and the other was a really sweet Strat / Stang / SG'ish kinda situation - a TS-400 I believe. They made some good guitars. They're Matsumoku made, same as the old Electras, etc.

Had a Matsumoku aria LP copy. It was dope. Bolt on neck too. beat to hell, cost me $30.

the old standby's that have been named are a safe bet, edwards, tokai, burny, ibanez and most grecos. but the same guitars were made under a variety of names from from the same factories. so there's some weird ones you'll run into every now and then and never see another one. in general, i would avoid bolt on necks. usually the set neck versions are all pretty good. it's true that there are some great bolt on japanese gibson copies out there, but in general those were made with much cheaper materials and construction techniques and sold to just look like a gibson, whereas the resources were usually put into the set neck guitars that were being made to actually create or copy a really high end guitar.

there's an amazing lawsuit ibanez LP in a pawn shop near me for $300. it plays so good. it has the absolute worst refinish job i've ever seen, which is so sad. it appears to have been painted a cream color with latex house paint or something. it's terrible. i still kind of want to buy it anyway but i kind of can't afford it.

Hell yes. Great price. Is he selling that Electra too? Lowball offer him for both of them and then sell me one in a moment of indiscretion while I'm home over Christmas.
