I want to bump this thread because I play a Rockerverb 50 Mk2 with EL34s, although it's due for a tube change and it's probably going to KT88s. I run it crunchy with the gain around 11 o'clock and volume as wide open as possible. I'm running a BAT Pharaoh but want to explore some other fuzzes. I haven't found any other fuzzes to work well with the amp already being this dirty. I can get other Muff-style fuzzes to work if I take the gain down to around 9 o'clock. I like leaving the gain at 11 though, it's th perfect spot for me to roll back on the volume and get "clean", for crunchy alt-rock rhythms, and a god spot to goose a little with a clean boost up front to get juicy gain for leads and heavier riffs. I'm going to look into some overdrives to play along with the Pharaoh soon, obviously the Black Forest being first on my radar because the Coven sounds amazing.

Any updates on fuzzes that work well with the RV, particularly on the dirty channel? I basically never touch the cleans, it's less pedal friendly for me.

I'd say it largely depends on what sort of sound you're after. To me, 'fuzz' can mean anything. It'd help if you could narrow it down to a certain music style, or fuzz type. Fuzzface, tonebender, scrambler, muff, or something less traditional that's more glitchy/synthy/velcro/whatever,...?

Personally, I'm partial to the Superfuzz type. Imo they work best with amps that normally aren't too pedal friendly, like modern oranges. They cut through way better than muffs or fuzz face derivates imo.

Out of the stuff I own/owned, I'd personally put my money on one of these I had a rockerverb:

- Boss FZ-2. Or the aforementioned Malekko omicron, which should be closer to the classic superfuzz circuit I think. There's obviously all kinds of other sililar alternatives out there, as I'm sure you know. Not too hot for smooth tones or big rich chords or whatever, unless -like me- you're into scrambly nasty sounds:)

- Vexter Mastotron. My favorite zvex fuzz. Love the wooly mammoth and fuzz factory too, but mastotron just does it a little better imo. Oozes with low end, and it's got enough of the fuzz factory's unpredictable weirdness, without going overboard. I know zvex isn't too hip around these parts, but in case you're only familiar with the handful of resident ilf boutique builders, I highly recommend looking into the mastotron

-Dr Scientist The Elements. I'm just mensioning this because it's insanely versatile for a pedal that compact, and I'm assuming the almost infinite tweakability of the eq section is just what you need for an amp that's rather picky when it comes to dirt peds.

-Red Witch Fuzz God II: Best bang for the buck among most 'popular' oscillating noisey fuzzes impo. Just check some clips, you'll hear what I mean.

When I had my RV100 I ran a SUF Pi in the effects loop when using the overdrive channel, sounded HUGE

Ultimately got sick of how finicky the amp was with pedals and sold it, replacing it with a silverface twin reverb.
