Re: Pharaoh vs Black Forest vs ?
I saw that yesterday and I have been so tempted to buy another one just to get that enclosure. Looks fucking amazing. The LSTR does too. I wonder if the rest of the line is getting a makeover too.

i've yet to see what a revelation can do, seems like none of the videos out there really got dirty with it.
Go to the Post A Link To Your Band thread and listen to the two videos I posted from band practice. Matt and I both use a Revelation Superbass as our only dirt pedal. The bassist is running a Ritual.
EDIT: Here ya go.

I made this demo of the Black Forest. It can get really gnarly and deliver a shit load of low end. I mostly used it in front of an already dimed amp to make it scream even harder, but as a fuzz into a clean amp it works great too with the 6 position switch up around noon or higher. I've got a Pharaoh too and it does get a little bit louder. You can see the Pharaoh in this video:

Honestly though, from what you're asking from these pedals I'd recommend the Revelation. It delivers a shit ton of volume. It is the only dirt pedal on my board and depending on how you set it, you can get a really fuzzed out tone.
Yours was one of the first Forest demos I watched! I never did see that second demo. I think of those two I prefer the Pharaoh (oddly enough by itself) though.
I remember being drawn to the Oath originally for it's massive volume boost, but the lack of tone controls and clipping options pushed me away a little bit. (I guess I'm not ready for that kind of commitment

Ryan, if I could buy every pedal with a cool graphic I'd own whole lines of pedals! But I can't say that the finish on the Forest didn't sway me a little bit.

Damn Conk, those are some righteously hefty riffs!

Re: Pharaoh vs Black Forest vs ?
I have both. The Pharaoh gets used and the Black Forest doesn't. I mean by me. I let all my pedals not currently in use (this is 95% of my quiver) sit at our drummer's crunkass studio. I think he uses the BF somewhat frequently for other people's sessions. Anyway, the BF sounds so 'solid state' or synthetic or something to me. The Pharaoh sounds like a natural extension of what I'm already doing and the BF sounds like some sort of machine. But hay different strokes and all that plus you can't go wrong with BAT

The new graphics are AWESOME. I could whip up a LSTR clone in a couple hours but I think I'm going to buy one (eventually, broke, LOL) just for the finish!

Re: Pharaoh vs Black Forest vs ?
so...i read somewhere that the Black Forrest is based on the the colorsound OD pedals (i may be wrong)...and i have a clone of one of those and i also have BAT Sarcophagus (Pharaoh and LSTR)...so from my experience...when i'm at home at low volumes LSTR is my fuzz pedal and the OD clone is my OD/Distortion pedal...and they sound great.
But when it comes to rehearsals and i'm playing through a 100w and 4x12 with volume almost of full...nothing compares to the Pharaoh. If you get the newer ones with the switch that lets choose between Germanium/Silicon or LED...then you're set, because LED setting is extremely loud.
oh...and that new graphic on the Black Forrest...it has Evil dripping from it!

I have both, and reading your wish list of sounds makes me think think that it is all Pharaoh. I like the Black Forest a lot (mostly on bass rather than guitar), but it jus doesn't have the wide open, organic, fog that the Pharaoh does.

Re: Pharaoh vs Black Forest vs ?
I have not tried any of the other BAT drive pedals, but I did pick up a Pharaoh used about a year ago...before that my only experience with fuzz was both the Big Muff Pi and the Bass Muff...didn't dig either of them whatsoever, making me overjoyed that the Pharaoh worked out so well. I tune to C and this pedal has by far been both the best drive for slightly boosted Classic OD tones with tasteful grit, or full-bore low-end fuzz walls.
I find I like the fuzz knob on about 75%, Vol 90%, Tone 35%, Highs 60%. That exact setting meshes perfect with my amp and pickups. No matter what pup, or whether running full tone on the guit, or rolling it off, or if I combine the Pharaoh with my amps OD boost or the Gain channel, it always produces huge, warm, pleasing tones.

I had heard a lot about the big green, but I've already had plenty of experience with my EHX LBMP. Even with a mids switch, I'm not sure the ARC is quite what I want and from what I've heard of the ECT, it's a little too squishy for my taste and not quite clean enough. I did get a discount offer on a new Pharaoh though, so if I don't like it I can always return it.
So, white or gold?
