Ampeg SVT (if you look hard enough you can find deals on them, granted you would still need to have it checked out by a tech. This goes for almost any tube amp)
Ampeg V4 , V4B
Mesa 400
Mesa D180 (overdrive channel is pretty good)
Fender/Sunn 300T
Orange AD200B ( You can find them used around $1400 or so. I know it's more than you said but .....)
Traynor's (The old ones are pretty cool and the new ones are also pretty good)
Trace Elliot V series
I'm surprised it took this long for someone to recommend a V4. they're Incredible.
It sounds like you have decided on the Meatsmoke though. No one could fault you for that.

While I tend to think that a v4 is plenty loud for guitar, I would agree that they're not loud enough for bass in a loud band. Even if it can be loud enough to be heard, it's really not enough headroom to push the lows and be awesome. Sounds great for recording and such though, or other low volume situations.

Oh they're awesome, they just don't come around as regularly as, say, an SVT.

Have you seen a Peavey Mace? It was a tube guitar head with solid state pre built during the 70's. They are 160+ watts. You can find these for $200 some times, and I hear they kill on bass. I would probably go 3-400 watts. Marshall VBA 400 heads can go for under a grand.

Thanks for all the advice guys, im keeping my eyes peeled for a Classic 400 just to keep on deck. Eventually hope to have a backline to fully support my multi-instrumental tendencies as well as any projects that arise.
I really need to just calm down for awhile and save up a gear fund so that when something good like that pops up I don't have to scramble and try to sell something before it sells.

I learned the hard way once, and that was enough for me.
I can't even imagine having to deal with that more than once on your end
