Built like the old ones we all love but new, so none of the maintenance issues we all hate. I cant afford any of them but I get the appeal.

Are there any gutshots of these or specs? You know, in case I win the lottery or something?

how much do these beauties run?!?! you say not that expensive but im mighty skeptical haha. they are fucking hot looking! i have plenty of boutique guitars that cost me thousands, and plenty of boutique pedals that ive paid ridiculous prices for; however i own a marshal 100w dsl, vox ac30tb, fender deluxe reverb, zvex nano amp and a fender tweed bassman 4-10. i can get almost any tone i want. i know these botique amps sound supposedly better (all i have to run on is 2nd hand word and youtube videos), but i just haven't been able to convince my wallet that the expensive amps are worth it. maybe i just need to sit down with one for hours. i never thought i was a marshal man (played fender amps exclusively) until a buddy gave me the dsl for free. now its the amp i go to 99% of the time. i feel lost when its in for repairs, maybe thats another stigma to the higher end amps to me. im afraid it wont compare to my dsl of might. its in for repairs now and i feel fucking lost jamming. the fenders and vox isnt cutting it, and the nano amp is balls loud and awesome marshall like tones but just not the ful 2 channel dsl of might.. i used to feel the same way about spending over $1400 on a guitar, until i got to play some really fine trussarts, alembics, and vintage guitars. well i think almost all my current guitars were more than 1400 sigh so i guess what I'm trying to say is do you guys feel its worth spending shit tons of money on the amps? i can honestly say i feel and hear the difference in all my higher end guitars. they play smoother (like a butter) and are constructed better (they seem to fit together perfect, unlike pieced together, like art that is designed for maximum comfortability while playing). i guess a high end amp is the last gear acquisition i have yet to make and im seriously on the fence about it. i guess ima just have to start hitting some nashville pawn shops to start trying out some boutique companies, but something tells me ill always turn back to the dsl.

A great amp sits atop my gear hierarchy so I'd say a boutique/custom amp is def worth it within reason. I have a nice assortment of custom guitars and a boatload of pedals but in the end, it all sounds shit paired with a crappy ass amp. That's not to say boutique is the way to go but a great amp is key IMO.

As for price, they're not all that crazy. I got my Dunwich AND Verellen heads for just over 3k total, less than some of my guitars all on their own so it's not terrible from that perspective...

I actually think it makes much more sense to spend more on an amp than a string-thing.
good deals are here.

Absolutely.

Expensive/custom shop/boutique guitars can be great right outta the gates but less expensive models can be upgraded and modded to perfection without much expense or difficulty, ESP if you work on your own guitars.

I emailed about a 100W head in late 2011 and I think he quoted $1500, pretty good price for sure.

^ Thanks man.
That's definitely reasonable. I'll be keeping this in mind next time I look for a new amp.
(not just because I love Kidcrash and think Science is possibly the best name for an amp company ever)

Damn, those look fantastic! The Street Sweeper sounds fucking perfect for me. I wish there were some sound samples, but I gotta say that has me contemplating a mass sell-off to fund one. Probably not going to happen, but tempting.

Sometimes you just can't find what your looking for in an amp and custom / boutique is the only way to go. Like Schnikes I have a custom Dunwich and a Verellen, and paid a lil less then 3G's for both. I've found through the years that to me the amp is what connects all the other parts together and either makes you sound great or just makes sound. I personally like extremely clean and full single channel amps that sound hi-fi and have no breakup through out their volume range. That's not easy to find off the shelf as it seems that almost everyone else likes tube breakup in their amp so thats what 95% of builders focus on. The right amp can literally make your sound feel 3D, so I think its worth the cost to invest more in that, then in a single guitar.

Those look great (very beautiful)... but 100w - 200w that's too much.
Do they have lower wattage, like 30w or something?

Lower wattage amp sound better to my ears.
30w is more than enough in a band situation.

Dual reverb? Their amps have always blown my mind as far as looks, but dual reverb sounds like it would be awesome.
I wonder if you could get a half power switch in there to step down to 50 or 100 watts?

100w-200w too much? :excellent:

Different strokes for different folks I guess...... :idk:

See I feel that higher wattage amps, especially 200w amps, sound fuller and have way more headroom. At the same time I agree that they can be overkill for certain bands, like my current one. I was using a 225w guitar amp for about a year now and I just picked up a 30w class A amp and it gets plenty loud enough for this band, but for the band I was in before this one it wouldn't have cut the cheese. It really depends on how hard your drummer hits and how you tune your guitar, the lower you go the more watts you need to push out the low end your adding into your sound, hence why bass amps are usually 2-300w.

I like the high wattage too but sylnau just moved into a brand new urban and attached condo so noise complaints are probably a legit concern for him. Sadly.

As for 1/2 power options, should be totally doable but a step-down from 100W to 50W doesn't kill much volume in my experience. Usually just sounds worse. I bet syl would be after something in the 15-30W range...
