Wait, Lakland decided to take something fender did 40 years ago, copy it, change a few little things, and quadruple the price?

SHOCKED, SHOCKED I TELL YOU. SOMEONE CATCH ME, I'M GETTING THE VAPORS.

I love my lakland, this one I'll pass on. Out of all of the "secret" stuff at the factory (when I visited) there was/is much cooler stuff that they could be making. Also the price is lower than the article if you look at the website it has a list of prices but if you look at a store that carries them the prices are lower, but still expensive.

no that is just a mix of more sixties stuff:
Dano neck
bird body
Gretsch pickups

I'm talking about function. like wider string spacing [even classical guitar spacing at the bridge would make the things much easier to play], a different trem system, more pickup options [such as "guitar" pickups in the neck and bridge but a more "bass guitar" voiced on in the middle], mixing up bass and guitar tuners [like novax] so you can use any strings, ect ect

I would love to see a VI with a mixture of guitar and bass pickups. Maybe like a neck Mudbucker mixed with a bridge humbucker/P90 so you could get twangy guitar-ish tones and deep bass-ish tones. They have a perfect chance to do a Ric-style stereo output, which would suit a lot of people trying to cover both bass and guitar ground with one instrument.
Limiting them to guitar pickups just seems kind of counterintuitive to the idea of a Bass VI.

And maybe this is crazy, but a semi-hollow Bass VI would be fucking epic.

It would! I once saw a 60's bass VI where someone put three mudbuckers in it, it was epic

I like the way you think sir. The classical guitar spacing especially, would probably make fingerstyle on a bass vi waaaay easier. & more room to jam out.
