Thanks for the explanation. I wonder then if there's something about single coils that makes them decay much more quickly than humbuckers. Still, it's kind of tough to dial in that sound correctly when you're relying on a string's last vibrations to get that effect. There's gotta be something out there that does this all the time, right?

FuzzHugger... never heard of these guys before this thread, but I'm interested.

I never have issues getting a velcro sound with singles myself.

In the 60s they used to just put a transducer on a pair of Keds so maybe do that
