If youre looking for a josh homme vibe....man im saying you need a hagstrom deuce semi hollow. I played a proto of this and it screeeeamed QOTSA.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Hagstrom-Deuce- ... 1c3132f239Theres also this hamer which is korina like the motorave and will get you closest to that build quality for the price.....Honestly you should buy this guitar right now
http://www.ebay.com/itm/2000-Hamer-USA- ... 35c7ffad1aThis talman semihollow has a funky maton vibe going on and for 250 why the hell not?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ibanez-Artcore- ... 257e337a82This yamaha would cop that motorave vibe for less that 300
http://www.ebay.com/itm/YANAHA-AEX-502- ... 338279a8cdNobody ever talks about esp xtones but they are great instruments and NAIL the tone of his maton
http://www.ebay.com/itm/ESP-LTD-PS-1-MG ... 51a50ff510Esp thats killer
http://www.ebay.com/itm/2002-RARE-ESP-L ... 19dc6bb599Heres one that josh actually owns. He has like maybe two of the guitars and a bass version.

Those all totally rule, I was hoping you'd chime in with some input, we seem to have similar tastes from my lurking,
and while I'm still trying to decide on a price point, and now I'm thinking I definitely want more of the MotorAve vibe, there's obviously tons of options regardless.
I never stated it clearly but am going for buckers for sure.. just because I have no guitar with them yet.
Those eastmans are mighty fine lookin' as well.
The only ones I could really have an opinion towards would be yamaha, just on build quality, but I have only played an old SG2000 in the studio, never a semi... any knowledge?
Have also heard wonders about hagstroms but have never even seen one in person sadly.
Also probably can't find any of these in person to test out so I might have to be pretty picky. Absolutely no good guitar shops in my area. Closest ones are in Denver and thats about ~4 hours away so I don't make it down there too often.

I feel you on the shitty loc stores. I like in bumfuck and our craigslist is......comical. The hagstroms are great and noone wants them so they usually go cheap. The vikings go for like 200 on guitar center used. Ive owned two vintage hagstroms and they were both in the top ten off the rack best playing guitars ever. The new ones play just great too. Honestly man if you think you can save up like 1500 fender is about to reissue the star caster........

Well goddamn. links?! Should've said that in the beginning. Thats about as good as it gets aside from getting myself an actual belaire. But I'm still gonna try to track down a hag cause that thing really does look great, and if its a 60s neck I'd be all about it.
yeah I have never seen a good thing on the wyoming craigslist. its all "great beginner drum set" and "found this first act in my sons room when he went to college."
sigh.

Im getting shit for it from people but im buying a fender offset special in shell pink in a week or two. Im not able to try one because we have shit for shops here. I really like the way they look.
I did play an epiphone wildkat that I liked okay but i didnt like the neck and im not too fond of single coils or p90s...atleast ones ive tried.

I've got one of those Hagstrom Deuce Fs. I swapped in some Dimarzio 36th Annis for shits and giggles and replaced the tuners with Grovers. I love this guitar. With the coil tap it can do just about anything. Great quality and plays nice. The necks a bit thinner than my LP studio. ~$900 all said and done with HSC.

http://www.offsetguitars.com/forums/vie ... =6&t=70391The past has proven the osg board to have impeccable sources. They get all the dirt. Im just waiting to see how much of a "reissue" these will turn out to be. If its not damn near vintage correct ill probably pass...but if they get really close without any of the wtf changes they just to make i dont see how i will be able to resist purchasing....

Hagströms are so awesome looking... Except for the royalist lys flover on the headstock. That thing would at least deserve gaffa tape. My people beheaded a king so they could build a Republic FFS
I want their Baritone Viking in black SO BAD.
