I wish I had someone to collaborate with via internet to make Doom style Postal Service covers.

I don't either.
It sounds promising, though.

I'm in two bands.
One of them is a cover band that I've been in for about a decade now. The lead singer is my best friend's cousin, and I heard they were looking for a rhythm guitarist. About 6 months in, our bassist broke his hand, and I told them I played bass too, so I switched over to bass. Our old bassist just never came back, and we didn't ask him back either.
The other is an original thing I started with my other best friend. He's got a buttload of synths and we have basically the same exact musical taste. We play industrial, IDM and some ambient shtuff.

gawd. Shtuff is so awesome. Industrial, IDM and Ambient Shtuff is THE FUCKING BEST.
i'm trying to get my drummer to cop more electro/IDM beats. he's a monster, he just grew up listening to way different SHTUFF then i did.

I've never had luck with the craigslist thing...I'm either too specific about my wants, or I'm not specific enough and get a guy who wants to play foreigner covers. GAG ME WITH A SPOON GRODDY TO THE MAX

everyone near me who posts on craigslist always lists Radiohead, Death Cab for Cutie, and Wilco as influences. AWESOME. right up my alley.
then they continue the list, and add such gems as green day, mumford and sons, neon trees, AWOLnation, say anything, etc.
and then they sound NOTHING LIKE ANY OF THE AFOREMENTIONED BANDS. not even by the longest stretch of the imagination.
sigh.

The only reason I haven't actively looked for a band is because I never feel like I have enough time. If I was in a band, I'd have to have a certain amount of time to devote to it and I don't want to screw anyone over when I can't give them that time. I have 3 kids, two jobs, and am trying to further my education. So I just don't think I can do it. It sucks. I would however LOVE to have someone just to fucking jam with every once in awhile. I've said this before though. The people I know that play, seem to only want to play covers and of certain types of music. Green Day, Metallica and Keith Urban. YUCK! Seriously. Fuck Kansas.

i've tried that too. it'd be fun to do if we could get it going. like a library would be cool. people submit chunks, leave bpm and key sig and all, then whoever is playing with a certain chunk claims it, no one else can use it till they put it back with their stuff added.
