I had a Ceiger Counter Civilian Issue for a while. We didn't jive.

The main reason was that I found most of the modes to be way too gained up to use. It has a habit of going to total snotty annihilation when you hit it hard, and I hit pretty hard. I could never use the gain above 1 or 2 on most modes. There were a few lofi modes that I was pretty into, but not being able to tune the sample rate on those really bummed me out... Overall I just found it really hard to dial in, like it was always pretty close to something I really wanted, but I didn't have enough control over it to get what I wanted. I also found the carrier wave to be pretty loud on alot of the lofi modes.

It really felt like it was made so you would say, "fuck this, I want the full version"

I sold it and got my FrantaBit and couldn't be happier with that decision.

Hmph, that's not very nice since i hit pretty hard as well...

But i'm not sure about the FrantaBit either, because from both testimonies and videos it seems a bit muffled at times... in the same way my Helio does. Maybe that really is kind of a nature to the effect and so it's just not really for me

main problem is that it would be kind of an overkill for me I think... and that I didn't really like most of the sounds i've heard from the demos :x

What about the other ones I mentioned, did you check them out? (granted, most demo's of those aren't that great or helpful either if you're looking for the 'nicer' stuff)
Lateral Sound Bit, BitFix
Malekko Bit
Montreal Assembly Wrong Side Of Uranus (stock it doesn't come with a blend control but it can be added on later for extra versatility)
Red Panda Bitcrusher

To be honest i'd probably want something that can be used for playing licks etc on its own. I have this song I have in mind where I could really use some textural fuzz, possibly with octave up or nasty gated fuzz or something like that. That's why i came up with the Geiger Civilian :) but thanks for the suggestions! If i ever want a crusher/reducer, I have a list now (out of these, the Wrong Side of Uranus got most of my attention)

alright, so I found this guy in the B/S/T and currently we're handling the transaction :yay: :yay: :yay:

seems to do the stuff I want basically it seems to be an analog synthy fuzz with switchable octave etc :) it's a start if nothing else

Cool, I'm actually eyeballing one with the octave up on a footswitch though but I might hit it, I guess it'll bring you the goods though. ;) :)

The Pixelfix deal didn't go through, but I've been offered a Tone Machine clone by Fuzzmax and I'd like that

the more I've thought about it, the more the idea of an octave fuzz appeals to me... it'll be a new experience for me :)

Based on your description, I think the Pixel Fix might have been the wrong flavor anyway...

You might do yourself a big favor by checking into a Harmonic Percolator.

Chuck Collins (Thermomaniacs) builds 1:1 clones from leftover OS parts right down to the enclosure and sliders......and they're totally legit...even the unlabeled ones.

I've been driving mine with a Green Russian muff and a cheap clone guitar from the far east with no sustain....and it suddenly has Dat Sustain

I am seriously contemplating getting the new velcrobot, I have a custom absynth that I still rock hard. Same for SS/BS everything Brian makes is incredible and extremely versatile, I have owned lots of Dwarfcraft and can say that they make some really crazy stuff, really great for noise and full out amp blasting lol I used to love all of Devi's stuff, I sold my E13 Improbability Drive a month ago but I am done with her, she fucked me over to many times and is a really bad person to deal with.

I say grab some SS/BS, Fuzzhugger or Dwarfcraft, they are all very exciting and interesting and can yield so many different sounds. :thumb: Oh and if you really want endless possibilities and extreme mayhem than get a Geiger Counter!

How'd Devi fuck you over?

Tone Machine is an awesome, nasty little beast. Push the octave into another thick fuzz and madness will ensue.
