come at me bro

Yeah I have/have had the normal version, mini, barbershop, built several different ones, etc

Basically I feel like a good overdrive is good with a crappy amp, great with a nice amp, but never MAGICAL like the right amp with no OD pedal.

They're fun but in my experience/opinion literally none of them compare to the real thing.

Probably the best ones are the ones that serve a purpose other than traditional overdrive. Like the Barbershop can be used to sortof clean up your sound in a cool way. The mini and eff OD are both good boosts and can get pretty fuzzy plus the crackle or bias.. That's what makes them fun. But overdrive still sucks :duck:

Please don't get mad at me.

Ain't mad :hello: The real problem with OD is all this "transparent" horseshit.

Your last paragraph said overdrive still sucks.

When using a pedal to achieve natural sounding tube amp overdrive, there's always a tradeoff of some sort or another.

I understand that getting real sexy amp overdrive is a pretty excellent feeling, but shunning OD pedals because they don't achieve that... you can use OD pedals for so many different purposes. Saggy and chewy low end, broken transistor sounds, synthetic disaster crunch... Eq, boost...

get that crystal lattice bs out of here.

Edit: nevermind

My opinion is that overdrive pedals suck for overdrive. They can make other good sounds but not overdrive. When they make other sounds I don't really consider them overdrives. I guess I had to be more specific or something but I wasn't really looking to argue in the first place

And of course if you're a good enough player you can use whatever you want and it will sound good but I'm just stating my own opinion.

I mean I've had my eff OD pretty much since it came out and used it until it broke so I guess I really like it. I don't shun ODs I just realized that I prefer to get that sound without pedals

I'll continue to contradict myself. I'm not good at arguing because I don't like arguing so please just let me have my opinion whether its stupid or not

Sorry, I like to argue. I don't really take offense by anything you've said, I just like offering a different opinion.

It's definitely the bass I get it now. But it comes in at the chorus every time. Not anything too fuzzy but a nice rude grind. Guess I'm gonna hafta get me a maestro fuzz.

Yeah, it's definitely the bass and it's probably a Maestro.

Kind of on topic, I just started getting into the Stones after hearing their music that wasn't same three chords. I was like, "damn, why hasnt anyone shown me dis stuff."
