Re: Which EQD Overdrive?
I think JustNick has a demo of damn near every EQD pedal on his youtube. I love his demos and when I am looking for an EQD pedal, I check his channel out immediately.
Youtube Channel?

I forgot about the monarch. I read website descriptions, watch the available demos, but at the end of the day my mind is still a blank.

Like dudes have said you really CAN'T go wrong with EQD. I'm with you though, the choices are almost overwhelming...

Let me ask it this way - You have Speaker Cranker on one side of EQD overdrives (not fuzzes) so what's the other extreme - or what's the most extremem EQD overdrive? Thansk

Re: Which EQD Overdrive?
On bass, the Monarch could pass for fuzz when cranked. Really great old-skool gnarly toanz. Again, not to spam the Talons, but I'd say it's flexibility is extreme.
I'm more like a mids-ist than a bassist.

That's exactly how I used the Monarch when I played bass for a punk-ish trio. I also love it on guitar where note clarity in complex chords still shines through, but it also makes the cab thump bigger than it does, for lack of a better description. My Deluxe Reverb sounds much huger than it is when I kick it on.

joe shmo here, and i've tried every EQD drive (i work at a guitar shop that's an EQD dealer so yeah...), and for my ears, through a 65 princeton reverb, the white light, speaker cranker, and the talons are the best. If you're a low gain guy, I'd say the white light is for you. If you want flexibility and good tones all around, the talons is there. If you want a simple drive that stacks well with other pedals, cranka da speaka. if you like the way old orange amps sound, the monarch gives that and then some. if you're into 70s rock tones (that aren't orange amps), dream crusher or crimson overdrive. if you like big muffs, hoof fuzz with the fuzziness toned down can be slightly overdrive-ish too. I don't think EQD makes a single bad pedal so you can't go wrong, you just have to find one that complements your amp the best. If it makes you feel better, I still don't know which to buy
but I grabbed a speaker cranker just because they're cheap and they're fun to throw into the pedal chain just about anywhere and get toanz.- devideva

I hate to say this but EQD has too many overdrives. I am fucking totalled when it comes to choosing one. I am actually now thinking of BAT Black Forest.

Thanks for your time and insight. It helps and I think I may print it out just to have. I do have a Speaker Cranker and it's my single favorite pedal. I like playing with my amp clean, or with a bit of Speaker Cranker to take the prissyness out of it. Yes, it's the SC which makes me want to try their more gainly or ungainly overdrives. I also have Dirt Trans and Sea Machine so I am a big EQD fan and think they cost quality lower than most shmucks out there now.
I play YT demos over and over then forget which one was what. I think I like Crimson Drive right now.
