get it !! the RE20 is really good for Kick, Bass and Vocal and i guess if you want some extra low end for guitar, you can always pair it with a SM57.

Badass on guitar cabs. It doen't get the proximity effect low end build up garbage like a 57/421.
Definitely let's a great amp sound like a great amp. Very good paired with a condenser or a brighter amp. I liked it a lot on a verellen head/marshall cab combo we had in here a while back.
Super standard on kick, gets you awesome inside kick punch! Stevie Wonder sang into them as well, so there's that pedigree for vocals. If it's a good deal it's a step up from 57-land, depending on what you're after.
Re:421 clips
They absolutely blow. Superglue the mic to the clip, not like they'll ever be apart. I haven't replaced clips or had mic drops that I know of since we did it. They sound awesome.

What is it really about this clip? Fell off or something? Cos I'm not a real fan of a permanent glue, especially on this case

a lot of the time they work themselves loose and go limp. twss. I just wrap the cable around the boom to hold it in position if that's my only option. and I think the re20 is the only mic ive used for vocals on maybe the last 4 or 5 projects ive done. live, I prefer a 57 though. don't be dissuaded by all this clip talk, you should buy it and enjoy the fuller sounds you'll get.

The clips don't like drum sticks, or being looked at. They're designed to be a quick release from the stand... they work too well at that! If you're lucky and you find a vintage one the clips were metal and they don't suck as much. The Telefunken made (white ones) actually work alright, but the new production models are really annoying.
As I say, there's only one way to mount it on the stand and that's with that clip. Glueing it is a lot better for me than having a mic slip/droop/fall off overnight and have to find that sound again in the morning.

The RE20 is an amazing mic and a classic, but you should also look at the Heil PR40. Heil is the company of the guy who designed the RE20, and the PR40 is essentially an improved RE20. He kept wanting to modify the RE20 to make it better, but ElectroVoice refused to let him change the mic due to how well it was selling. As a result, he split off and the PR40 is the result.
Of course, if it's dirt cheap just get the thing before someone else does! That or send me their email
