I work at Reckless Records in Forest Park IL, from a employee view point, it was as intense as we made it to be. There were three of us working, my Manager, another employee and myself. I got to the store half an hour early and there had been people in line for over an hour already. The worst part was when people would say "I'm here for three things," and we had already sold out of them.

The most asked for item was the Stooges/Black Keys 7", and the Elephant - White Stripes reissue. The least bought item was a Reckless only pressing of a Chicago Punk Band called "The Repos" We still had six or seven copies when we closed.

I went to a few RSD's when I lived in Richmond. Kind of went just to see the crowds, but as everyone else has already stated the lines, waits, and prices just kind of make it a shitty day

See, that's wild. I've always been in busy, but not crowded, stores. Lines at the register, for sure, but not to get in.
good deals are here.

It definitely depends on where you go. There are a handful of record stores now in Richmond, Plan 9 being the most crowded with the lines. But the other stores are kind of small so it doesn't make for pleasant browsing when you're rubbing shoulders with a bunch of other people. Those were line free but still really busy from what I can recall. And I always saw the RSD stuff sitting on the racks for 2 months after RSD
