Re: Any advice to replace my strymon pedals?
I absolutely hated my EHX SMM Hazarai.
If you love how the El Cap sounds, why not get a Timeline. There's nothing "standard" about that thing, tons of crazy delay sounds available without abandoning the more normal stuff. Best of both worlds imo, I love mine.
Some other awesome delays I own that are far more limited but still cool:
Crazy shit:
DBA Echo Dream
Clari(not)
Tape Delay options:
Disaster Transport SR
Echorec
LaoWiz built Multiplex
Standard-ish but great:
Malekko E600D and E600B (if you can find 'em!)
Sunny Day Delay
Endangered Audio Research AD4096 (I'd wait for the DELUXE model, should be soon. 900ms delay time, tap, CV/EXP features)

Re: Any advice to replace my strymon pedals?
I had a smmh and a dmm at one point and ended up replacing them with an el cap. I love the tape sounds from my el cap, but I sometimes miss the bright snappy repeats of my dmm (and that legendary modulation). I have never ever regretted selling my smmh though.
Since you like your el cap, I think you should spring for a timeline...I had one for a while and there's tons of crazy sounds you can coax out of that thing (it's definitely not a "standard" sounding delay).

I know right. It's gonna be badass though with a price tag to match I'm sure. Along with all the new features, it will retain all the cool features of the standard model (infinity mode and momentary excess switch) along with that snazzy 60's era NASA aesthetic.
I just sold my standard AD4096 locally in preparation for the DLX's release, hopefully I don't go spending those funds.

Hey, does the supa puss still have that volume/mix control issue (at least for me it is)? I've had it from the first batch and can't stand loosing the dry sound when cranking up the delay volume, returned it the next day. I heard that I wasn't the only one returning it and they finally did something about it, but I'm not sure..
I was really in gassed with the supa puss, but when I read there is a volume issue I changed my mind.![]()
Also, I think that strymon pedals sound really godly with cleans, but with a fuzz they sucks :/ They are to standard!!! too worship rock, I was grown with sonyc youth, smashing pumpkins and noisy music, I totally hate the angelic sounding of strymon pedals, and this pedal company philosofy.
fyi, no volume issues. They updated the Supa-Pussies (in February I think) after they came out and everyone had beef with it. They also tweaked the gain knob to be more usable too. I ordered one last week and got it the other day! It's so fun! Not standard at all, noisy, fun, weird.
Synthezatory, the mix knob works like the El Cap's. It mixes in the delayed signal until, on the supa, about 12-2, then it starts to mix out the dry signal. 100% wet delay is pretty fun to use anyway sometimes. And with the supa puss, it can get so lofi and wacky with full wet. With the mix at noon, its about 50/50 wet dry, you can turn up the gain knob to raise the wet signal's volume above the dry signal vol.
And Dramatis! As I said, no more volume drops! And the supa puss is totally lofi and can be really noisy and oscillaty and funky with the chase modes and gain knob. It can be angelic sounding, not as well as strymon, but you can get a clean comfy delay tone. or a dirty warbly mess. I too had problems with my el cap + lots of fuzz. It seemed like it couldn't handle a bigger signal as well as a dry one. I haven't had any problems with the supa puss in the few days I've had it! So that's good!

This guy explains all the updates and changes better than I did.
Also, I want to say that with the gain knob and 0 and the repeats maxed, it's a lot harder to oscillate than I remember. Which is handy for those spacey ambient repeats, but you can easily get it to oscillate with the gain and tone knobs.

Damn! Now a want a supa puss too!
The "sequencer" sounds very cool, mor usable than the memory man\boy.
Exactly, El Cap is too angelic, I'm tired, in the last live i set this pedal to the maximum ambient setting, when I kicked my Musket for a huge solo lead, the signal totally desappeard in the mix, like a mosquito, what a shame!
The bluesky totally destrois the huge wall of fuzz sound too
I was so happy with my cathedral, every time I miss him, my only souvenir from Doublin...

Well, you see, the problem is putting fuzz before delay.

It's gonna be badass I know, but I could only imagine how much would the price jacked up from the original model (which already is expensive). Do you know if they gonna put any modulation at all on the deluxe and when's the approx release date (sorry I couldn't find any info regarding this upcoming pedal)?
As much as I love the EQD Sr for it's awesomeness, I don't feel like bonded to the pedal. There's something about that decay/feedback "clicky-ness" on the long repeats in delay pedals that I don't really fancy about, plus its loud delayed poping start when you hit the switch on. I might return the pedal, and might have to look for that holy-grail of unusual/over the edge delay pedal with modulation all over again.. So if the EAR DLX has it, I'll be checking it out
And zRobertez .. thanks a lot for the clarification on the Supa-Puss!

Trade strymon for a fuzzhugger arc flash and a few cases of beer.

So true.

Me too!
I hadn't heard about the revisions but I DEF heard about the mix and volume issue with the initial release. Lots of bitching, totally scared me off...

All the info I got on the DLX was direct from EAR via email. I contacted them maybe 2 months back and they'd just overcome the last big design hangup and expected to launch it within 2-3 months so not much longer if everything is still on track.
No mention of mod or projected price but the standard was insanely pricey. I used a PGS 15% coupon to ease the pain a little bit but yeah, full featured AND great sounding analog delay ain't cheap. Just ask MOOG.
