If I were considering an Orange, it would be this fella. I always though the Vox night trains and the Oranger Terrors looked so silly due to their size, I think the OR15 is a proper size.

first comment on youtube says:

"I have one, it is not a clean amp to lay pedals on at all. Breakup comes on fast and almost no headroom. Great sounding amp though, I love minefor semi dirty and overdriven tones."

you can actually hear just a tiny bit of breakup when he plucks some notes a bit harder (before the backing track comes in). I think it sounds great, but if I were playing on those settings you would definitely hear the breakup. and I bet to even jam with that amp you're gonna have alot of dirt going on. Again, I think they sound great, but they are definitely lacking in headroom. HOnestly, nothing beats that Orange tone, especially when you set it right on the edge of breakup so you can dig in and get that dirt when you want it. But I need something that really handles the pedals, I've always dreamed of an AD30, but dont have the cash for it, and question how well it would handle the pedals.

Yeah, that Youtube vid is pretty misleading. Like I mentioned, clean tones are great with a single coils and gain dialed WAY back. If you're looking for high headroom cleans to slam with fuzz, they're not present in the OR15. Clean-ish, yes, chiming cleans, no. Every level of dirt you could ever need, YES! Really great sounding amp but it wants to scream.

I actually run mine in stereo with an Ampeg GVT15, possibly the cleanest amp I've ever owned. I can hardly get any dirt out of it with everything cranked so the two make a nice pair. Just got a second Emperor 1x12 to complete the Orange stack last weekend. Here they be:

can you record some stuff with the stereo rig? It's something I have a lot of interest in doing and I'd love to hear how it sounds!

I'll try and get something recorded that actually showcases the stereo effect. Don't have much in the way of recording gear right now but just got a Zoom handheld. Need to mess around with that soon, see how works out.

I'm busy experimenting with setup now, first stereo rig I've ever owned. My buddy just got a Lehle Little Dual, gonna give that a whirl tomorrow. There's many levels of complication when it comes to wiring a stereo board and switching system. Trying to keep it as simple and straightforward as possible.

There's heaps of Combos still being sold new, I want the head though. Infact, I'd happily eat into my saving if I found one for sale - luckily they always seem to be pretty cheap.

AD30 is not good with pedals. I had one, sounded great in it's own, but it has a tube rectifier and you will get a lot of rectifier sag when you slam it. Not a lot of low end definition. If you are trying to get clean delay and modulation sounds, good luck. If you want thick and chewy overdrive tones, it has it in spades. It's a really really beautiful sounding one trick pony. All the other low wattage Oranges sounds pretty shitty in a live context. They have one voicing, and that's it. Mid heavy, sound good recorded, but I think they pretty lame compared to even the early 00s line. It's more like "here's the Orange sound, that's about it, good luck getting anything other than that out of them."
