Played guitar through my flatback SVT with original CTS AlNico speakers and even though it sounded really really good, balanced, and smooth, it wasn't loud enough as I'd like it to be. The speakers feel a good 25% quieter than my EVM-12L loaded open back 2x12. Could have been that the 10's were just too smooth that it didn't feel loud enough, but I think I'll need something something that cuts a bit more.

I'm playing guitar through it, not bass. There should be plenty of options out there. Thanks.

But I'm a cheapass so I went with Jensen CH speakers (cost me about 300 euros I think), these are the European equivalent of Jensen MOD's. I think they sound pretty good, but I never compared them to other 10" speakers so what do I know really. These should also be able to handle bass, but I haven't tried that as of yet.

I also like 12" speakers more actually, but I still use the Marshall because it's slanted and the top speakers are alot higher above the ground, so I don't have to stand a couple of meters from my amp at practice to hear myself.

How do the speakers spun overall? Bright? Dark? What amp and pedals are you using as well as guitar and tuning? Definitely interested as these are fairly priced speakers. I also notice these are a bit less sensitive than most speakers, does the cab still get loud enough? I'd love to hear a much details as possible, man. Thanks for chiming in.

Okay! I've been running a solid state HH Musician head through it, but I have a Laney AOR that is currently broken so as soon as it's fixed I will try that one out with it too. I think it's pretty dark sounding compared to my 4x12 (a Carlsbro with Celestion gh12-80's). It could use just a little more brightness for a guitar to get a bit more bite i think. I do roll off treble (and play neck pickup mostly) most of the time because we have two guitarists and I play the heavy riffs mainly. With the right distortion, my setup gets pretty 'in your face' though (got some great sounds with a RAT with maxed gain/vol and filter all the way down or FYA apiformis fuzztortion). Also the HH amp is not the typical solid state amp with a super harsh attack and too much highs, so it's not like a tube amp will necessarily sound muddy through it. I don't have one tuning I'm keeping to, but most of the time I'm in standard tuning, AADGBE or C standard.

About loudness: it's noticeably less loud than my 4x12", still loud enough for me though. I never turn up my amp past '4' and it's plenty loud for bars/small clubs if they don't mic your amp (they always ask us to turn down).

The way I see it: there are definitely better speakers out there (or I just really don't like 10" speakers, still possible), but for that price I think they are pretty neat.

(edit: I just read your comment about 10"s being smooth. I think that's what I was trying to describe when I said missing bite)

Thank you so much. That's exactly what I expected to hear about those speakers.

Any more 10" speaker suggestions are appreciated.
