Hot damn I'm jealous! My VT-22 seems like it needs new tubes... it has the ORIGINAL ones still in there. The other week a friend told me that this thing was supposed to stay clean damn near all the way til it was dimed haha....Mine breaks up around noon.

They were going to just comp me 2 6L6s and I was like, uh, I don't want 2 7027As and 2 6L6s. So they were going to comp me 4 6L6s. They went to put them in, and there was something stuck in the socket from when the tube broke during shipping. So they returned my money. They're shipping it to their service center to get 4 new 7027s / get it serviced and fixed. Then it's going to get shipped back to the store where I can try it out and decide if I want to rebuy it.
Basically its a free tube swap / amp service AND I DONT EVEN HAVE TO BUY IT IF I DONT WANT TO. I just get the first dibs when it comes back to the store.

HOLY SHIT
wouldn't expect that from GC from what i've heard

absolutely a killer deal, man, good luck!

Deal of the century.
I was texting Alex about this yesterday and was like, "oh, 6l6s, too bad they're not putting 7027s in there."
And he said "they're going to."
Best guitar center story ever.

7027's today are exactly the same as a 6L6GC. On top of that, v4's don't use the extra pin that the 7027 has. Regardless, depending on how often you'll use/crank that amp, it'll eat modern tubes like nothing. I went through a whole set if JJ's and Ruby's to find out the hard way. Stuck some Sylvanias in there and it never let me down after that. I'll also always recommend a good 12BH7 in the phase inverter over a 12AU7. I never expected it to sound as good when I did that with mine. I was blown away. But to be fair, and I might be the only one here, I'm not a huge v4 fan.
Make sure you keep up with guitar center, they might forget to call you when it comes back.
Also, I don't mean to sound like a dick or anything.

Oh I'm imma start talking to them in 2 weeks / remind them everytime I'm by there.
My only fear is that it could be repriced. But then I would just complain till they lowered the price.

EXACT same situation happened to me when I got a MINT 76' V4 with the matching cab. I was playing in a band situation the first day I had it and I found myself turning it up to like 9 and it wasn't loud...
I paid $700 for the whole rig and ended up just selling it for $1400 and getting something else. I wish I would have brought it to a tech and found out what was up.
