Dude...I've flipped my whole board like 25 times. Hah...

No worries about the addiction thing. It's better than what I used to be addicted to.

I would say from this point on, don't charge stuff though. Use the money you get from selling gear to get more gear. Or sell other stuff you're not using.

I am super happy with my bass and head. My cab is alright, I don't need a new one, maybe one day I'll get an Orange to match my AD200B head. I am pretty content with my pedalboard. Not saying that anything is 100% set in stone, I have played this game before, but I do get tons of sounds that I dig. Maybe I would replace a piece or two but the heart of my board is there.
AND ALONG COMES FUCKING SYNTHS AND DRUM MACHINES.
And in reality I have a sweet electronic set-up, 2 analog synths/drum machine/sequencer, a sweet hardware sampler, some computer based stuff. But, I still want more. I don't need it but goddamn I want it.
I am so afraid to fuck with a modular synth set-up.....

no more credit for sure. I am really surprised that no one has bitten on the minibrute. It's fucking amazing, but I dont need it, I need $400 to pay off a card. Thanks for the insights into this crazy fuzz addiction.

I'm 40, I buy what I want.

I don't need every new thing that comes out because I have basically everything covered (but I'll buy something fun if I want it and it comes up at a good price - hello, incoming Devi Don't Fear the Noise tomorrowish), but I've never been into noise in the 'make pedals squeal and have no control' sense, I like being able to actually do what I want when I want, even if the path isn't quite predictable.

I'll never wear flannel, and I won't ever play Tom Petty at any music store.

I have your best interests all at heart.

I think my advice could be paired down to two statements: sell old gear to buy new gear (I know jwar said this but it is a super important point), and be creative.

If I hear about a pedal that makes a crazy new sound, I always try and make my stuff make that sound first. If that doesn't work, then I try and think about how to use such a sound musically, or what kind of music that sound would work well in, if I can't think of anything I would realistically use it for then I don't get it. It makes cool sounds but it's not for me :idk:

That's why I had a relatively unchanged board for a year. I realized what sounds I liked and how to make them, so I didn't need anything more. I only changed things up when the last band I was in fell apart and I started making my own music again. So, I planned it out and just finished making my board over the course of 6 months, and it should last me for at least a year or until I change musical directions.

I'm currently in the process of sorting out my amp situation. I plan on selling all my amps and using the proceeds to buy two amps: one loud as fuck for shows that can handle bass, keys and guitar with proficiency, and one super portable one that I can haul anywhere and play at low-key jams or practices. And I should have that sorted out by the end of summer if not sooner, depending on how fast I sell my amps and how quick I decide on what new amps to get.

I've been on the same track for years. I ditched the forums for a month, and that helped.

I've got a couple of mad fuzz boxes coming in soon, then I'm done. At least for a while.

also, as of late, I've been downsizing a fair amount. Went from having a lot of okay pedals, to having less pedals that are all REAAAAAAAAALLY sick. Like, I used to just have two or three keepers and everything else seemed temporary. Now, there's one to two that I'm iffy on, and the rest are keepers.

Pedals are cool, but it's really all about the music you know? Pedals need to help that or get out of the way.

When are you going to admit you've stopped using that Dinger? :poke:
