for stacking, i'd try a Frazz Dazzler - it has a mix knob, so you can really blend dirts together with it :)

anyway... Bluebeard is supposed to be one of the heavy fuzz pinnacles... dunno about the stacking

Megalith is heavy, really heavy... maybe the heavier you can find. But it's not so thunderous, especially whel you play fast riffs or chords, or when you hit single notes harder and harder.

There are other fuzz pedals that sound slightly less heavy but that are really more thunderous: with guitar, I'd recommend the BAT Pharaoh or the Dwarfcraft ECT; with bass, the ECT again and the S&S Bluebeard.

my favorites off the top of my head for current production pedals for what you're talking about. the soon to be released black hand analog ape blaster is fucking killer as well. i've been rocking a prototype for a while now and it rules. one knob and that's all you need.

I'll second that on the ape blaster. Sounds so good through his fender amp. Awesome cleans and then BAMM! APE IN YOUR FACE TONE. It just sounds so thick and massive. I can't wait to get one.

Thanks for the suggestions. So it looks like the consensus is the megalith or some kind of muff derivative. Can the megalith do fast, tight riffing or is it mainly a doom/sludge kind of pedal?

You can do fast riffing with the Megalith as well as the other pedals that have been mentioned. It only depends on what are you mainly looking for: if you primarily need a fuzz for heavy riffs then go with an ECT or a Pharaoh, if you need endless sustain for your chords, grab a Megalith or a Huge Box!

I stack a Megalith into a BAT Pharoah. The Pharoah blunts some of the buzz that the Megalith gets with high notch settings.
THUNDER! THUNDER! THUNDERCATS, HO!!!!

Megalith>Black Forest works well too but after stacking Megalith>Behemoth II, I'll never look back. :success:

Also the Mountainking Huge Box (II) is a great, heavy and thunderous fuzz, especially with baritone guitars!
