I've thought about selling off my pedalboard and restarting a few times, but the ones on there right now are my most treasured, it's too hard

The only one that'd even be worth it is my refinished Jag Bass...I consider it every now and then, but..
BUT WHAT IF I MISS IIIIIITTTTTTTT
I mean, I still enjoy it, but how many basses do I need, really? I need one. Tuned in BEAD.
Someone else already has first dibs anyway, lulz. I must banish these dark thoughts from my head.
Also, I've started unconsciously typing in prose like ryan summit.

I think about this all the time, and have pared down quite a bit in the past couple months, but constantly think about shedding a couple more guitars, a cabinet, and some pedals. I am not actively playing with anyone, so I don't really need everything, so it's sort of appealing to sell a bunch of stuff and either save the money until I am, or buy one thing, or both?

Is the refinished Jag the green one with the Ric pickups in it? Because I thought I had dibs on it! Who has dibs ahead of me? I'll fight 'em! I'LL TEAR 'IM TO PIECES!!!!!

I've toyed with fretless before, but it's definitely not my main jawn by any stretch. Does it have fret markers? Just curious, not seriously entertaining the notion....

It's all a vicious cycle. I had a bunch of unused pedals about 6 months ago and felt bad that I had so many just sitting around, so I sold them to help fund a guitar. Now (after seeing the excane collection thread) I'm warming up to the idea of having a collection again

I've started over once when I tried to go all laptop/midi/software and shit.

Otherwise, I ONLY keep pedals that make my board. That's it. If it's off the board it's up in the classifieds. The way the used market is on here, TGP, and TB, if I ever want it back, I could easily get it back for cheaper. I have high end shit.....but only one bass, only one cab, only one amp, and no extra pedals laying around. If you look at my rig, you'd be all "fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck he spent a ton of money on that shit" but I'd wager there's a lot of people who dwarf that dollar total from all the extra stuff they've got laying around collecting dust.

I think once you figure out what sound you are going for and like you can slim down the load... If something wasn't touched in the past year then you're not gonna touch it this year... I used to see stuff at pawn shops or cl that was old or rare and I would buy it to "keep for the future" but I've gotten over that shit... If it aint awesome I aint keepin it...

Personally I don't really understand collecting... if I have something and don't use it as much as I thought I would be I just try to sell it and buy other things. That may just be because I have no income though.
I think my learning curve with guitar completely dropped off about the time I got right into buying pedals haha. I've considering selling everything just to fund an EGC and Hiwatt SA212, and I probably will do that sooner or later.
You should talk to tommasters, he did the whole 'sell everything and start over' thing a few times if i'm correct. It's how I got some of my favourite pieces of gear haha.

I like this thread.
I too have been thinking about massively cutting down on gear.
I own about 80 pedals and maybe 35 guitars and basses. Many are vintage.
Of course. It's good to simplify. It translates to your load and your mInd being lighter.
But you have some great shit.
You almost seem like it's too good for you. Lol
You could always wait and as a last resort just put everything on eBay after forum peeps
have combed through it of course..

Typing in prose. Lol.
Funny because I catch myself doing it sometimes but who the f am I? Il

But shit man I want that moog control processor.
Hit me up if you could like any trades below + $$$
