My recommendation: Mammoth pancakes.
Yup.

I use the Planet Waves and buy the pack of three on Amazon for $12 or when I run out and need one in a hurry run to the local music shop. Previously I'd buy the rainbow colored ones and I think they're crap now.
I've just done my board with a lava solderless kit. Ryan told me what to look for whilst testing them with a multi meter and I was on a winner! Just make sure to use a sharp knife to cut the cable, I started off using pliers but discovered they were crushing the ends resulting in a poor connection. The ability to cut to any length and have a secure fit was what swung it for lava in my case. They just seemed higher quality than the other options I looked at.
Yeah, I've seen em work for lots of people, but I had cables that I just couldn't get to work - they'd be good until the last screw to really tighten them then they'd short out. With the amount of swearing, those bloody pliers (which you were smart enough to skip), troubleshooting, stabbing my fingers with small bits of wire sticking out etc it ended up being better for my sanity for me to solder my own cables. First few took ages but after 10 or so I got it down to an art haha.
They do have a really good low profile.

That’s quarter-assed at best.
Once you get the hang of putting together lava's I love them but there are some random ones that appear to be perfectly made that love to randomly short out, between my two boards I have about 12 cables I made and only 1 connector is sometimes iffy and i know exactly which one it is, before every gig i just pop it out and tighten it up and have no issues. The main reason I stick with them is I've tried others and they seem to have the least amount of high end loss then any other cable I've tried. Plus it matches all my Lava ELC 12'-20' cables

Livewire cables always seem to crap out in less than three months for me. I use whatever cables i can get. I steal patch cables from those little buckets at guitar center or from radio shack. I do not advocate thievery.
i used these http://www.amazon.com/GLS-Audio-Pedal-B ... ard+cables i might have picked that one you did cause of the heat shrink but the gls has been workin aaaand cheap so i didnt vote and now i cant see what everyone picked to know what to get next time
Ugh, I could just not figure the Lavas out. I must be a fucking idiot, as none of the ones I made worked. And then I redid them all. And then one of the five kind of worked for a little bit. So I guess I'm in the same boat. Anyone here make/sell soldered patch cables?

oh shit. that looks like a good deal... i kind of want to solder my own anyway cuz thats more fun.
also i fixed the poll for you, go try it out
edit: oops, i ruined it. i'll spoil it for you... lava was winning and rainbow amazon cabled in second, (8-5)
some dude traded me hundreds of feet of mogami cable for gutters i tried usin it but the shielding got so bulky and i wasnt sure how much i could eliminate but i did a few with it and my guitar to board is mogami and i put pancake on guit jack side if you saw the solder job youd laugh at me but i trust it as strong as fuck that cable is battle ready,no? i
