I guess I was hoping to start a more general conversation about tricks people have to shop for used gear. The Craigslist searchers were good.

my main tactic is similar to Sylnau, i.e. googling (<pedal name> for sale). that's how i found my EMMA DiscumBOBulator after they'd been discontinued, from some shop in the Portland area i'd never heard of.

Some dudes in my town made a facebook group for local musicians. There's some selling/trading going on but its mostly talk. Might be a cool idea to start one.

Didn't seem that way, but either way I just Google mostly. It sorta depends on what I'm looking for and if I already have some idea on where I might find it though.

having lived in the Bay Area before i moved here, i look at starving musician.com occasionally. they've always got something odd. hell, they still probably have my Truly Beautiful Disaster Dark <sigh>

I ended up ordering one from Guitar Center. I was surprised that it was actually cheaper there than ebay or recent forum ads. I guess the individual stores set the prices and maybe they don't sell much synth stuff.
Do any of the other big retailers have decent used catalogs?
