I'm gonna try this. how would I go about setting it up? blend all the way up, feedback all the way down, depth wherever?

I had one for a week and really loved it. It had a really cool over the top vibrato effect that I havent been able to duplicate since then. The problem is, it totally crapped out within a few days and the wet signal stopped coming through at all.

I guess yeah, about that. Not entirely sure, but you're smart, you'll figure it out.

I have one and i LOVE mine. I could see how people might now like the modulation as it can make you a bit seasick but i think it's great. I like it for a delay and as a noisemaker. I just got a Deviever PEEP that i'm using with it and it made it 100X more fun. Turn the feedback, blend, and depth up turn on some square wave vibrato and manipulate it with the PEEP. secks.

I always felt that either the delayed signal was overwhelming my clean or I couldn't hear the delay signal. I had this problem with the deluxe as well... it might have been that I was using them before a pre-amp and it was amplifying the delays once it got to a certain point.
This. I prefer a effect level control vs a blend. Blend you can get vibrato which can be useful but meh. The repeats are just so quiet.
Mines also pretty noisy and whiny and I'm talking way sub 500ms, maybe I got a bad one
. I did make some really awesome sounds with the modulation but other than this I think I'm not that into mine and will probably flick it off soon.- DarkAxel

i feel that's one of the issues with delays overall... if a delay pedal is good, there shouldn't be a problem like that...
i liked toy, but could use a bit more modulation control... so boy could be good for me, right...
could check that cavedweller out though

Re: EHX Memory Boy
The memory boy was my first modulated delay, except for the stuff on the dl-4 and dd-20. IMO the memory boy has a lot of charm. The blend knob is tricky and i can never seem to set it right but when it's on it sounds amazing. The blend knob is tricky too, i usually keep mine on about 8 o'clock. Anything more and it's a bit too much. (with the peep plugged in and if there is enough light it's a very lush chorus) I'd say it's worth checking out. I didn't like mine at first and tried flipping it after about a week. When nobody tried to grab it i threw it back on my board and figured out how to utilize it.
Another thing i like about it is when using a fuzz with it power chords sound massive with the delay/modulation. Feedback is also amazing with it.

I agree with Pizza
The memory boy has a lot of charm and this thread is making me wonder if I should put it back on my board

Re: EHX Memory Boy
You should man. I've got three delays right now (de-7, mammary boy, and a boss dd-5) and it serves it's purpose and has it's time and place.

Re: EHX Memory Boy
I have the Deluxe version and its definitely an interesting pedal. It is a bit erratic though and can only be used with a 9.6v power supply. Mine sometimes produces a weird foggy hiss sound with the repeats and relatively short delays can have a ring mod type sound. However, I really like the expression pedal options, the square wave modulation and the effects loop and I don't think I could get anything else with all those features without spending a lot more money.
