I look at it very much like an original Buzzaround - a rare beast that I will probably never own but that I can certainly appreciate the fact that it exists.

I would certainly not look at modeerf's video as simply promoting the pedal. I think the video is simply called a promo and is more of a teaser for the full demo. The demo and write up document that it exists. Have you looked at the other writes up on his page? Alot of those pedals are rare birds too. It appears that modeerf really loves fuzz pedals - go figure - and he enjoys making these demo vids. Mr Main would probably not have ever posted a photo of it - a client approached him to build a custom pedal and he obliged.

I for one am appreciative of the effort modeerf put into this.

Thanks Arcane, yeah that's pretty much it. There is a full review coming that will be much like my other reviews. I just called it 'promo' because I didn't want the people waiting for it to think that the teaser was the full demo. I didn't have time to finish editing it before I went out of town for the holidays and I wanted to get the blog post up for 12-21-12.

Everytime I post a D*A*M demo the same conversation happens here. I can certainly understand that you would like the way the pedal sounds, and that not being able to acquire that sound gets you frustrated, but as arcane pointed out "I look at it very much like an original Buzzaround - a rare beast that I will probably never own but that I can certainly appreciate the fact that it exists." Very much how I look at it, and why not share and celebrate the fact that these pedals are being made. I for one love the fact that Dave takes the time to do custom and one-off pieces every now and again. And rather than being negative I am happy for fendersilver for getting this one. he's a stand up guy who loves fuzz as much as I do so...Good on ya Jim.
Keep in mind the market dictates the value of these goods not Dave. He sells his pedals for reasonable and competitive prices IMO. I own/have owned many D*A*M pedals and have never paid aftermarket pricing for them. Yes they are hard to get but usually the best things don't come easy, and if they did would we all care as much? D*A*M is functioning with two people building these, the supply is going to be lower than most but that keeps things "100% handmade by a real live human being"

Just enjoy the fuzz guys, it's not meant to be that offensive. I am sorry if I overstepped the line here, I just enjoy playing/demoing/photographing/reviewing fuzz pedals. And this one came at the request of it's owner who has become a friend of mine so I obliged wholeheartedly. Believe me I wish I was keeping this one...I really do. But I'm OK with the fact that I'm not.

I have a hard time understanding the "if I cannot buy/afford pedal X why should there be a demo" sentiment.

To me, these builds are very much like a piece of art. It would be odd for someone to say "If I cannot buy it I wish the Museum of Modern Art would not display Van Gogh's Starry Night."

Both are 'unobtanium' but both are pretty damn neat.

Ha, I wish some of the collectors opened together a Museum of Fuzz, so we could go and even play these a bit. I'd gladly pay the ticket!

That would be amazing! I would love to have a look/listen to the collection of the fellow that has the YouTube account 'blondegraemey' and posts on the DAM forum. He would be able to pull one off on his own.

Nothing wrong with them, really, plus they are a good way to spark interest in their target buyers to promote stuff so new buyers become interested, too. And the clip was entertaining I should try a buzzaround some day.

But I understand Derelict, too well, been there. That's obviously what the builders justify the prices of the original batches, though the resale prices sometimes go - especially with handbuilt NOS fuzz - way above anything sensible.

And - as a personal remark - fuck me if I pay two hundo for anything just because it's a fucking unicorn because every collector have hoarded two or more units from that first/only batch and keep from posting gutshots so legit ILF bros could take it to clonertown through bonertown.

Awesome! Too bad you couldn't score a Fuzzaround for comparison as you had hoped - that would have been amazing.

I have to say I am pretty happy to have this as a reference. I have a small lot of NKT213s that will be finding homes in a few Buzzarounds soon and having this as a reference will be great.

Nice, an etched Buzzaround would be amazing. And If they sound like the buzzotron they will be.

Your etchings are great, I am inspired by them although I have a question. Do you live in cold weather? If so do you still etch in a cold space ie; garage. and does it affect the etch negatively? I ask because I am about to do my first etch but I will need to do it in a cold unheated garage, unless I wait until spring. Just wondering if this is a bad idea...
