Sounds pretty good, I can tell there's a tone of tons in it, but I think it might be overwhelming for me with all knobbies, what do you think?

I've been wondering if one couldn't just use something like the Copilot FX Arrow Airwaves and some kind of overdrive to get some fun shoegazey swashes that still have great note clarity.

Nup, it's super easy to dial in.

1. Choose gain range (first switch - up= lots, down= less)
2. Adjust gain (top left knob) and volume to taste (top middle). Adjust mix if so desired (top right)
3. Randomly select a clipping option (try up for LEDs, they rule)

That's pretty much it. All other knobs (tone shaping) at 12 gives a good basic sound - turn knobs and see what happens. Refine your sound with the bass cut and mids switch once you know what you are doing.

Lots of knobs and stuff, but really elegantly thought through. And all sounds from the Elements are good, so you can randomly do shit and it will still sound good. Plenty of sample settings in the Dr Sci thread about it as well.

Elements Elements Elements, all the knobbies just mean there's no way you won't be able to get a sound you like out of it. and I imagine the clean blend is perfect for your needs too. Plus the new white finish is one of the best looking pedals EVER, I wish I had a white one now.

have you just tried turning down the gain with the pedals you already have?

other low-verdrive pedals which keep definition are the fairfield barbershop, infanem step, eqd monarch for a nice, spongy/crunchy sound

Blackstone Appliances Mosfet Overdrive
Mid-Fi Demo Tape Fuzz
EarthQuaker Devices Monarch
Catalinbread WIIO

I've had a lot of success with all of these, and I'm pretty discerning with my overdrives. You might say I'm an overdrive snob. I spent about 3 hours this afternoon dialing in the Blackstone since I'll be recording this weekend. I was getting some really tasty toanz out of it - broken up attack, but the decays were clean. Sounded so goddamn good. I can't say enough about that pedal.

The Demo Tape Fuzz is awesome too, but I feel that its potential is wasted by running it too clean since I find the sweet spot on the Trim (Gain) knob to be between noon and 2 o'clock (which yields a decent amount of drive).

The Monarch is very articulate in the lower half of the gain knob, even at levels where other pedals lose definition. I had to sell it to pick up the Blackstone, but I'll pick another one up someday. In my experience, the downside is that it wasn't very flexible between amp channels. Setting it up for the clean channel meant that it would be very dark on the drive channel, and setting it for the drive channel meant that it would be shrill on the clean channel. I ended up using it with a single channel amp and just leaving it on all the time, which worked out great.

I sold the WIIO as well, but I forget why. It's an unbelievable pedal. I remember being blown away by how the Bass knob was interactive with the Gain knob. Selling it was my biggest gear regret, but c'est la vie. Better to have played and sold than to have never played at all, right?

Yes I have, I think the problem is that I don't have enough control, I can turn down the gain but I lose the sound I want, I think a mix knob or more tonal control is what i'm looking for.

Yep it's got the clean knob which is on a little board inside made by ss/BS Bri so it's All In The Family... I have 3 Algals, regular, bass, and a 5 way... They all RULE for the CHORDS...

i agree with all the people chiming in about the elements
thought the black forest handled chords really well too.
