Tube smart-dumb, not worth mentioning. Everyone theenks they're Einstein nowadays. I'm gonna get the Pharaoh. No doubt. I was thinking today would be good for the fifteen bucks off. But I am getting something from this LPB thing now. I have played with it alot and it sounds really good now. I think with some Sylvania tubes it can open up a bit.
I used to spend the same money on dope, I mean really? Can the wife bitch too much?

I've had one for 100 years and have had no issues... I changed the tubes to Sovtek and EHX and some old no names and they were all about the same... I use the EHX cause they're cheap and that's what the local store has a ton of... Try a pedal between the tubes... I usually run it first in line and a Blackfinger last sometimes the other way around... I got a shorty short cable and just leave it in ganged unless I wanna pedal in the middle... Always use the low gain side, it's not really supposed to be an overdrive just a boost so it's not really gonna shred on its own... Some pedals don't like the tubes in front of them but like them after and vice versa so you gotta sit down and experiment... Also the power supply likes to be isolated...

Isolated power supply - good thought, will try that out. I just bought some Sylvania old tubes and replaced the Bugera tubes in my amp and switched out the tubes in the pedal and it all sounds so much clearer and more spacious. I found out that tube switch is a true deal. I was looking at the sovteks that came with the LPB and they are really short plate and I think not so good. The Bugera tubes (someone said they are JJ-though labelled Bugera) are better. They still aren't the best. Methinks some Tungsol NI would be great though I was recommended Ruby 12ax7AC5 HG+ for high gain low noise. Dougs tests his stuff. Otherwise I hear iffy things about Rubys from China.
I'm pretty psyched right now. Unfortunately my guitar time of day is over till tomorrow. But tomorrow I am a free bird.

So it's couple days later. Here's what I did. I placed Sylvania 12AX7s in my amp. I took the amp 12s and placed them in the LPB (The 12s in it are Ruby I am pretty sure). I moved the EQD SC to the front of the amp, and after lots of fiddling I put the LPB in the effect loop. What I found was that the LPB with Ruby tubes altered my guitar feed in and made it noisier. The Speaker Cranker however adds some butter/sputter but boosts the guitar line in before the amp just fine, without noise. The LPB in the effect loop of course boosts the whole preamp signal some 30 db. So I turned the clean and gain channels down while turning the gain up to noon (before gain past 2 sounded fizzy and sucked dynamics). So the volume on clean and gain channels is on ONE. But I put the MV at EIGHT to get more power tube crankage. Furthermore on the LPB volumes (both) are at noon and drives are at eight (both). Layers of overdrive and gain, all full of dynamics and chime. I really feel I have succeeded in what I originally was wishing for. If I could put the Pharaoh after or instead of the EQD SC I think I would plug in and never plug out ever never ever. I may be getting two RCA tube or two more Sylvania (one was microphonic). After some more retubinating I may be in soundhog heaven with both trotters in the trough. Thanks for the thoughts Peeps. Sleep in something tight.

I bought a Pharaoh and returned the LPB2UBE!!!
I was poor and talked to Mark at Black Arts and he said he had one with a messed up paint job he would sell cheaper. I did it!!!!
Truth was, the LPB2UBE doesn't let the whole bandwidth of ones guitar signal flow through cutting off some bottom and a bit of mid. There were other problems too. But Yea!!!!!!!!

A few days later. I rebought the LPB2UBE. I decided it's the bees knees for my gain channel. Cascade gain a number of times and wow such lush overdrive. I also get the Pharaoh this week too. Now I'm rollin.
