Yeah, i understand what you write but that is not true for my ears. The Vovox cable is unidirectional and has a different sound if you use it in the "wrong" way.
A little story:
A friend of me, that guy who writes for recording and guitar magazines, was back in the days on a chase for a Blues Deluxe that sounded the same as mine did (which he really liked). He had up to 10 of these and none sounded the same as mine. We didn't believe that he could hear it so he stood in front of the door without being able to see the amps and i played while a friend switched the cable between the amps. He was 100% correct in saying which amp was actually played. Amazing. I played and barely heard any difference between those two...

Your friend is THE unicorn

, that said.. it could be either a blessing or a curse, depends on the amount of your energy and financial situation.

Unicorn or crazy in regards of presumption and overestimation of one's own capabilities...
I often think it is the later one

I have never been to TGP. I was lucky enough to find this place right away. Because of import taxes and my search to find a more local builder I joined a german forum (uni knows that one too) of which I am still a member but usually only visit to skim the classifieds. Once a year something good might show up. German tone nerds are a little different than the tgp lawyers, because germans are very price sensitive (as someone phrased pretty euphemistically) or in other words, we are cheap as fuck! I nearly never managed to sell any of my effects for a decent price over here, partly due to lack of knowledge, but mainly due to a "But my DS-1 will do the same thing for me at 15€ used so you better knock some off that price." While the tgp lawyer / church dude (I'll never get what that's all about!) is looking for the unicorn signal chain many people over here are looking at the Behringer Catalogue. No one should spend more money than he wants to, but I don't want to get ridiculed for my taste in gear, music or whatever. And I definitely don't want people to get butthurt about the jokes I crack or the way I write.
On the other hand most forums tend to go in a certain cult-like direction. Over here we are pretty open to new people, but there are ilf hypes, there are certain ilf standards and so on. But I have the feeling that nearly noone over here is condescending, ridiculing others or in any other way blatantly intolerant. We do have our differences, general had lots of fighting for a while it's now simmered down a little, but we do respect each other and that is something that has to do with maturity and it seems this is a department where other forums are lacking.

I'm always astounded at how good everyone's English is at ILF. For the most part it's idiomatically perfect from pretty much all of our foreigners, and that's awesome. That was just a sidetrack thanks to you and Uni.
That's another thing I think over here - people are pretty articulate.
OT - I'm headed to Berlin on Friday with the family. Should be relaxing. Looking forward to some beer that a) tastes good and b) doesn't cost a million swedish kronor per glass.

I love the thread on TGP about the new Supa-Puss where dudes are complaining
about dry signal loss when you pass the 50/50 dry/wet spot on the Mix knob.

You keep saying that.
Reminds me of the line in Walking Dead last week where the black chick and the governor guy (I'm bad with names) talking he says we have nothing to hide here, and she says, people with something to hide always say that.

I think it is just important, so i mentioned it, that there are hearing differences. Everybody should be aware of that. So my Example that it is as normal as taste.
I always get worried about people taking stuff the wrong way on the internet.

What I always ask the tone dentists of the world is when the last time they had their hearing tested and what the results are - you'd be unamazed to discover that most of the geezer patrol can't hear for shit, hasn't actually touched an instrument in a long time, etc. but can magically tell the 'feel' difference between a touch-sensitive amp and one that's not, even though the entire goddamn electric guitar (and bass) are dynamic instruments that respond to pressure and vibration.
It just makes me weep sometimes.

it's fucking music and anyone that is concerned with stupid shite like directional cables is missing the point of playing dirty ass fucking music.
music can be made on shite gear and sound great. fuck anyone that says differently.
and fuck those babbling idiots that live in the past, worshipping tones from days gone by. it's 2012 and time to move on from hippy tones and make some original sounds.
that's what i think anyway....
