I actually dig new Queens but it took me a minute to come around on Era Vulgaris. Anyone who doubts it should give that album another spin, production kicks ass and songwriting, while slightly atypical, is very solid throughout.

And yeah, Lanegan's inclusion would RULE!

And Oliveri is missed but I'm longing for his vocal skills and songwriting contributions more than his bass playing. Mikey is probably the more skilled bassist, dude's good!

Oliveri can play whatever's required--but his songwriting is tits.

I dig Era Vulgaris too, especially if you include The Fun Machine and the title track (neither of which is on the album proper for some reason.)
Both those guys bring their own thing to the table. Nick's bass lines are usually just awesome compliments to the guitar parts, and his songwriting definitely gave qotsa an "edge" that ain't there no mo'.
BUT no doubt MIkey Shoes is badass!

Yeah, I hate when great songs are only offered on certain release versions of an album, generally those specified for foreign release.
Running Joke is another good one not included on the US release?!?

Seems Japan was the only nation lucky enough to receive Era Vulgaris with the title track, Fun Machine, and Running Joke all included. I hear there's a White Wedding (Billy Idol) cover on others, yet to hear that one myself.

I, for one, don't think you can stress this enough.

I keep forgetting how awesome Them Crooked Vultures was.
