A drums & guitar band where we play kinda messy songs, like indie-punk/garage or whatever, deerhoof meets the new york dolls and the dead weather. Music where we don't worry too much about arrangements or neatness or spend too much time on the lyrics, it's just say-what-you-feel stream of consciousness association things. Woooo. The Lovely Eggs are a huge part of what inspired this, except I'd take it in a slightly more serious song & interesting music direction, they're just rocking it.

Post-rock with trent reznor fucked up synthy and crushed up sounds; atmosphere and nice songs underpinned by drony noisy stuff I guess.

Poppy rock but with jamz, like old Neil Young/Stones influence not so much on the music, but the attitude to chilling and having some fun with it, playing more modern poppy nice tunez.

tl;dr NOTHING ORIGINAL.

I just want someone who's down with noise and sloppy playing but also isn't solely focused on music based around that. Who gets the appeal of contact micing...spoons and shit.
And who's into spontaneity in music. No need to critique it beforehand, just do it and deal with it after the fact. Try everything, too, instead of laughing at the idea.
I don't want everything planned, just shoot off some concepts and let's go.
But I don't wanna be a jam band either.

I'd really like to play in a band focused on energy, texture, meditation, and submersion. Something that has a post-hardcore / noise rock / doom kind of sound but also go into minimal spacious jams and sedated groovy jams and drones. Preferably a three piece, everyone playing multiple instruments. Guitar, bass, drums, synth, vocals, drones, xylophone, weird acoustic instruments. One day, one day...

Mmmmmm that sounds awesome. If we weren't separated by oceans, I'd be in.

I'm pretty stoked with my current projects, but there's always room to dream about more.

I've wanted to start a metal/sludge/semi-crust band for ages that uses New England as its thematic center. You know how Kylesa, Black Tusk, Baroness and all of those bands were seen as the new wave of Southern metal? Well, I wish there was a band that I could thematically identify as Northern metal. I mean, we've got a helluva history to work from - everything from the Pilgrims to Salem to plague and starvation... plus there's the bitter winters, and the weird global influx through the port cities, and all of that good stuff. And HP Lovecraft, one of the patron saints of all that's weird and twisted, was from Providence. It's a natural fit!

But then there's those damned "time" and "work" and "life" things to worry about. Ah, well. If any of you other New Englanders want to take up this project, by all means go for it - just give me a shout-out in the liner notes.

Kyuss as Southern? I don't hear it. Though I do understand where you're coming from--I've always been really confounded as to how Steven King is so popular worldwide when so much of his work deals with New England and Maine.

But I'd be absolutely down to rock that project--though I associate Grief, Ocean and Conifer (among others) as being singularly New England.

Also, I'd really dig being in a Budos Band/Menahan Street Band/Ray Barbee and the Mattson Two group.

yes please.

I wanna be in a surf type band that uses fuzz, bit crushers, and oscillating thingies to make people go WTF?! (As well as borderline offensive amounts of reverb) :idk:

This is why I shouldn't be allowed on the Internet. I meant Kylesa.

Going to edit that post now.

Fuck bands, I'd be happy to find a good drummer that's open to different styles.
