yeah... i totally understand what you're saying, but i guess mostly i'm just thinking about reaching some more folks with it.

i think i would pretty much completely redesign certain elements of it so it was even more bass-friendly and keep the standard TAFM as a more guitar/bass/tweaker friendly thing.

initial thoughts:
- much higher headroom clean blend that is a little more "hi-fi"
- tweaked fuzz range for more low gain stuff? similar to the fuck gain range, but obviously different overall
- no toggles - maybe an internal mids DIP switch with a slightly altered frequency
- shape control would pretty much stay the same i think

double volumes are necessary - either that or a mix/volume combo.

idk. i get excited by things easily sometimes! maybe i'll make one or two and just send them out in the world and see how they do.

Hmm, if it had all that stuff (lower gain?) I'd just get a normal tafm... But I'm sure some peepz would love it! :thumb:

I'd get a normal TAFM too I think, but you could probably reach different people with a mini version of it indeed.
Also agree that you should keep the clean and fuzz volume, it stacks so much better with other dirt than other fuzzes because of it

I do like the sound of the more hi-fi clean blend on the mini-TAFM, especially if I were to own both a regular TAFM and this. The bit of dirt on the clean side of the TAFM is brilliant, even on its own with fuzz volume all the way down but as a clean blend it could be cleaner.

I assume the mini-TAFM lack the gate feature/option?

Absolutely! Clean Volume, Fuzz Volume, Fuzz, Shape + gate & mids mini-switches with an internal Input Gain trimmer would be amazing!

yay because I like what you did with the mini-Fuck and am sure you'd make the mini-TAFM similarly awesome.

nay because you've hinted at enough other things that I'd much rather see (revised 2525/4545/6565/8585/etc).

lower gain WITH the same high gain range. so MORE gain range!

yeah i'd probably leave off the gate, though maybe i could work it into a push-pull pot or something?

no switches! only 4 knobs!

I don't know if it's possible but I think a 5 knob version using the FUZZ section of the TAFM and the EQ section of the Mini would be awesome!

Clean Volume.........................Fuzz Volume
........................Fuzz..........................
Bass..........................................Treble

Like the extended gain range idea, although I do love the sort of splattery low gain stuff the tafm does. But a 2 band EQ like the mini? Shit would be CASH. Freaking love how well that works for the mini fuck, I'm sure it'd be good for the tafm too. Although shape is already good... Maaan I'm indecisive. I'm sure whatever you do it'll turn out sweet since it's just a great circuit to start with.

Maybe some eq tweaking controls? Making it more suitable for guitar and bass?

I love the CV. But I'm wondering if bassists use that feature as much as they'd think? Maybe it be replaced with a bass knob? :idk:

I used it for clarity/attack but I guess cutting back on the gain a bit and retaining hella bass in the fuzz would also do that? Also having other dirt pedals pre tafm and blending those with the tafm fuzz. I'm posting so much in this thread, seriously, I need to get a life.

Two problems:
1. If you sell a mini TAFM, why sell the original? And we all know the original is pure badass. I mean, it's the captain of Team Awesome! Need more be said?
2. After having all of my other pedals with top-mounted jacks, the side mounted jacks on my Mini can get irritating at times. I would be doubly irritated if a Mini-TAFM were to introduce more of the same problem on my pedalboard.

the only reason I'd be against a mini-tafm is the time it might take away from other pedal developments, otherwise, if there is a market for it, why not take advantage.
