I actually had an L2000 at my disposal a few months ago, it was waaaaaaayyyy too high output for my setup. If i needed more growl and grind i would have rocked that but in my current band I'm basically trying to emulate a synth bass so i need smooth and clean as a base tone, and then I add in some dirt for flava. Adding the BTC in on a toggle isn't a bad idea actually, I'll have to look into that. But wouldnt the EQ pedal first in the chain achieve similar results without having to majorly hack the wiring in the bass?

The EQ pedal would kind of be the same but the pickup toggle would allow you to play actives with pedals that liked actives and passives with pedals that didn't.

You shouldn't have to hack that much more than you would just adding the BTC.

But I love the octave tone sooooooo much and I use it quite a bit in our sets as of right now so I don't want to lose it and then start the gear search for a replacement. I wonder how the superpuzzle does with active basses, that would be the first one i would go to too see if it would work since its a heavily modified superfuzz. I actually just got a Superpuzzle and it works really well IMO with active bass and passive bass. It's a bit better, less thin with passive, but still gnarly as fuck with active. I'm going to do a demo soon. Excane did a really good one recently too. Not sure if his bass is passive or active though.


I feel you on the flipping. Seriously. I myself get really fucking tired of it. But for me it's the only way to try new things. Nature of the beast I guess.

There are others that are great, but these responded the best. The Megalith doesn't give a shit what you feed into it.

I'm gonna look into wiring the BTC into a passive system with a toggle, after jamming last night on my jag bass I'm definitely taking the P back to passive. With my setup it just sounds so much better (more natural, cleaner, and more even across the strings) overall, all though i could probably use a compressor.

Yeah since my GAS has weened my life has been quite a bit easier...

I've wanted to try a depth charge for quite a while, I keep hearing great things about it. TAFM is always a wicked pedal. The megalith is awesome and I would love it if I was playing in a doom, or really heavy band but in my current group its too much gain, the abrasiveness clashes with other tones in the band. So I'm selling it to pickup another big spider, which is almost as abrasive but has more mids and less high end which blends a bit better with the band. I havent tried or even heard a fuzz potion yet, after work i might need to do some youtube browsing.

Agreed the megalith will take anything and everything you throw at it, like a high gain version of a Pharaoh fuzz!
