Elements Fuck and Shimmer...
The Bass Algal would be a good choice... I love rocking mine with the TAFM with Guitar or Baritone... The Great Wall gets real Beef with it too...
I try some more stuff today...

don't worry about it--just hook a bunch of pedals together and start playing. p90s make everything sound good.

I'm also on the Algal Bloom train. Sounds SO GOOD with my Univox hiflier bass with P90s. The starve knob is the best part.

Any of Toms stuff sounds great with my 90's...
J.A.M.C. RULE...
Back when I was first discussing the Algal Bloom and other Fuzzhugger pedals with Tom, like when I first joined ILF, he said that he did a lot of his designing with P-90s in mind. I believe it was because he had a Strat-O-Sonic guitar, and he used the middle hum-cancelling position a lot. So yeah, Algal Bloom and a lot of other FH effects are perfect for P-90s.
I'm such a histortion.

(Hopefully I'm accurate in my account)
EDIT: I meant to type "historian", but I'm so used to typing "distortion" that it came out "histortion". I'm leaving it.

It really should be a prerequisite for joining ILF...

I think the question might be less P90s + Fuzz and more EL84s + Fuzz.
P90s sound pretty good to most people through most fuzz pedals but fuzz with a EL84 amp can be a little tricky
especially if you are using the dirty channel.
Try and keep the gain down on the amp and set the Tone Reaper more to the bass side and see if that helps.
The Tone Reaper may not be the "right" pedal for what you are doing but I would think that has more to do
with the EL84s then it does the P90s.

So I played the neck 90 of my Telemaster and it's confirmed that it rules awesomesauce. I really need thicker strings on this but I'm holding off until the new bridge comes. Nice and articulate, but I did notice some kind of haze on a few settings compared to say, Jazzmaster pickups

MEC may be on the right track with the EL84's being the culprits. I did some poking around in some of the old threads and found this on a thread about how EL84's are finicky when it comes to dirt:
" I have a verellen jet city, which is a 20watt el84 amp, and it loves my Elements pedal" - Ancient Astronaught

So far it looks like a tossup between the Algal Bloom and a Rat or I may just bite the bullet and wait for an Elements to show up in B/S/T

Hold on here....exacty which pedals don't sound good with p90s... cause p90s sound good with everything.....even super fuzzes...
But if I had to choose, a big fat Absynth gets my vote.
Wait I know this one.
p90s + Fuzz = awesomeness.

I know EL84's have a lot less clean headroom than other power tubes, but unless you're getting into that Power-tube OD territory with the H&K, wouldn't it make more sense to look at the preamp first?

I absolutely detest EL84 breakup, and they just don't sound good with fuzz either IMHO.

OK. I did some extensive testing today and it turns out that the main problem is that my power supply (DC Brick) is shitting the bed. It was causing subtle changes in the sound of the pedals, but today it really started cutting out. So I put batteries in the pedals that take them and luckily none were damaged. I played the Tone Reaper and it sounded 100% better, but it still sounds a little bit too brittle through the H&K even with the tone set back. Other pedals that bring a thicker tone fared much better. I really like the od and distorted tones that the amp gets and I get best results putting my effects through the clean channel and letting the gain channel do it's thing. When I play guitar I am a rhythm player, so this setup works fine for me. I'm still going to try out a few pedals to replace the Tone Reaper but first I have to replace the power supply.
