a longtime bandmate has used a G50 for ages and it sounds great--lots of tone options. it's also built like a tank--it fell once and dented the faceplate, but still plays like a champ.

I used to have a G100 head for just a little while. It was cool, nice and clean. I'd run it through a bass cab in stereo with my Vox.

So yeah, I can recommend it, it just wasn't what I needed at the time.

Random Q: which were the one's that Lynard Skynard used? The Roland? The Yamaha? Something else?

Played both, I'll take the JC every time.

If you're blowing speakers on a JC, just go high-wattage JBLs.

There's also the JC-50,55/60, the loud as sin mono versions. I have a 50 and it's amazing, the early chor ous/vibe circuit alone is worth the price of admission.

Skynyrd were all about the Peaveys...i think they were one of the first major endorsers.

They were mostly marketed in the UK and Europe, but if you ever come across one grab it. If the G100 is even close to the VR6000, grab it and don't look back.
I've got a VR6000 on the way. Can't wait!

There's a g100 head local for less than $200. They don't have a cab there for me to test it though.

Hey congrats on the VR6000! Hope you like it. I am really a fan of the vintage Yamaha SS amps. I currently have a B100 bass head on top of a Randall 2x15 that I use for a stoner bass/guitar setup. If you don't care about tubes and want a good platform for pedals, old Yamaha SS's are so underpriced it's rediculous.
