I have original Meatball and the 3Leaf does it to a T.
the proton? or one of them other fancy ones?
If it's a Meatball sound you want, it'll be the Groove Regulator. The GR2 is the same as the GR1 with the addition of a clean blend and I think another function. The Proton is based on a Mutron III if I remember correctly.

There are phasers and flangers that can work via an envelope follower. The ones I know of are the Source Audio Phaser and Flanger and the Pigtronix Envelope Phaser.

EDIT! I miss spoke! I think the BEF Pro is fucking awesome, but only with a certain combination. Megalith, Source Audio Reverb, BEF Pro or BEF Pro with the verb. Both sound delicious.
I was just thinking about starting a thread asking if you have nailed the Blue Flowers sound yet. I guess not. Damn. 'Cuz I was just going to buy whatever pedals you would mention.

I don't know if it can be done with a bass and pedal. I just don't know.
It does seem hopeless. Lots of people boast though. Oh my pedal can totally nail all the tones you want and more! Liars.

I love my SubDecay Proteus.
Everything I want in a filter is there.
