What's yalls reasoning behind these?
I don't know why I didn't start with an awesome drive and a good tremolo and reverb with any delay, really. That's all I need to get going. That's mah core! But now I don't have a tremolo or verb. So I guess four is my minimum but I like to have a lot of options.

but I have a physical board to keep them on so at least there are limits.

Bass board = 5 - Pedal Tuner, Octave, Dirt, Modulation, Reverb or Delay
Guitar Board = 8 - Pedal Tuner, Octave Down, Dirt (x2), Modulation (x2), Delay, Reverb
I like that guitar board configuration.
What is the octave pedal you're using?

I like the combinations of various fuzz/drive pedals (sometimes 3-4 at once) plus a pre-delay before the signal gets split between the rack or Space Echo and the two amps.
It lets me share dirt for most things but play with the dirty/not dirty stereo combo as well, and have something that lets the guitar synth work since I rarely run it through external dirt (but will use the guitar only out through it regularly).

I have 9 pedals and they're all on there with the board divided into two sections. Will add a simple tiny splitter but that doesn't really count. Also need a tuner.
I would "realistically" be fine with 3: Big Spider, Team Awesome, and Disaster Transport Jr. I have two superfluous pedals but they're DIY and selling them without 'em being in 100% shape with pretty guts and stuff wouldn't feel right. They stay for the fun but really aren't necessary.
My main thing is dirt and delay, and I like stacking fuzzes. Everything else is secondary.
I really like smaller boards, like 5 pedals or something. The relative simplicity is kinda refreshing.

let's see...
18 pedals total, before the rack reverb. For bass/ pedalcore madness. Lots of crazy fuzz, some modulation pedals and shit, a reverb & delay, a looper, two channel switching/routing/boost pedals, and a tuner.
It's far too many for me to carry around easily, sure, but it's just about enough for the madness. The abundance inspires me, when improvising. And I'm always thinking about how I should add something crazy in there for a nasty surprise.

The number of pedals I use depends on how big my board is and what power supply I feel like using.
Currently with a PT-Mini, it's down to about 5 or 6. With a PT-Pro, I'll stick as many as my power supplies can handle.
Overall I have about 20-30 pedals.

Any more than five or six and I'm on the floor not playing songs anymore. In other words, to keep my song writing productive I have to have five or less with a pre-amp.

I have 69 pedals right now... I use however many I need at the time... Always at least 3 dirt and 2 delay and I'm OK...

That's always real fun. And even mixing in other effects but keeping the chains separate.

Even with just one or two, I'm always moving things around with my feet.

Well first I have a 12 band and a noise gate in my amp loop so not counting those...
1 wah
4 dirt
1 boost
1 modulation
1 delay
1 reverb
1 trem
And amp footswitch.
Wouldn't want much more than this unless I had some sort of looper or something to make things easier.

have 8 in total, all aboard
if i had more, i presume they'd be on the board as well... i don't buy pedals that i don't use
i have something more planned till the end of this year, i'd not mind another delay and a new wah, a standalone ring mod and a octaver and an envelope filter... and also i could use a looper and a tuner... but none of those is REALLY essential
