overstating the obvious: need demo of amp w/ more headroom. Personally, i think that Kay sounds like ass. There is a reason why they were cheap when they came out!

i have a distinct feeling this pedal would slay through my super bass.

The Kayness and the pedal are sort of hard to separate in a lot of what I watched last night/this morning.

If that Kay is anything like the one I've got, it's not really doing that much coloring.

The Kay 703 I've got isn't that loud and doesn't really break up. It takes pedals really well and if anything is just imparting some warmth.

I think it's a good choice to demo pedals with as far as small amps go.

I'll get a better demo up for you guys later this week if no one else does. Probably next weekend actually. It really shined on Ken's Sunn and that's what made me fall in love with it, though I also thought it did amazing on the Kay. Yeah, there is a lot of subtlety to the STEP that's missing because of the bad recording setup and the Kay's desire to eat and mame whatever you put into it.

Also, yeah, the prototype has three way flip switches because that's all he had available this weekend on short notice. The production pedal will have normal two way toggles.

I agree and less octave please... I think I'm the only one meh on Infanem...

I wanna like it and it looks cool but... :idk:

I'm in your boat. Bought a 2nd voice and flipped it. Wanted to gas over the Fayes her but didn't once the demo was released. I just don't jibe with their stuff. Oh well. I still get intrigued with all their new stuff.

Yeah, I think it sounds a little blown out due to a combination of pushing the amp really hard and the poor quality of the recording.

I think the pedal itself sounds great. The octave sounded really nice.

Yeah, I'm just not in the Kay lovers camp, or much love for the old cheap 50s and 60s amps in general - too much variation, especially with the passage of another 20 years since having to use them.

I like my amps generally loud, clean, and stable, none of which the cheapies ever really excelled at.

I remember literally throwing away a few of the amps and many of the guitars that people have been gassing over the last few years.

3rdeded...I've owned the Second Voice twice and the Faye Sing twice. Both were pretty cool but certain things irritated me enough about them to flip them. Of course I'm the king of flipping. I think?

This doesn't sounds any different than any other fuzz pedal I've heard. So meh from me. Meh.

Yeah, I think we're at opposite ends of the spectrum, guitarsynthman, but I already knew that.

I tend to embrace the idiosyncrasies in old unwanted gear.

Either way, I'm sure we'll get a better sense of the pedal when Devi demos it on a different amp.

I was meh on the 2nd Voice. Meh on the price of the phaser, mainly because I'm not a big phaser fan. And then I tried the Driving Notion. That thing kicks ass! It's not anything normal and can get clangy. But fuck it... I want something different. And it's full of clarity and can be punchy or trashy or clangy. Really cool pedal. And honestly due to the Devi affiliation I didn't really want to like them. :erm:

Even though she's been pretty low key lately. Not to jinx it or anything.

I kind of just splurged and ordered one. I really dug that cleaner upper octave stuff. And I could always use another boost I suppose!
