I feel like the j and humbucker one would be in theory the best pickup combo. A j pickup in the bridge for really punchy tones and a humbucker in the neck for really warm/dark/thick tones. Perhaps not squire electronics, but they are cool. Also the necks on those basses are awesome.

Yeah, there's a good chance you'll have to re wire the thing in the first year. No big deal.
