I've been listening to the clips of that Upper pedal and I really don't like any of the sounds the demo-ers dialed in.

I'm really looking for something very tight, with lots of headroom, and good with chords... something vicious but you are still able to distinguish the guitar's natural tone underneath. But then I also like the idea of the octave effect to make the sound more "fleshed-out" if you will.

Look into this one: http://www.bomeselectric.com/the-octa-tron/

I run it into a Muff style pedal and that combination is dynamite. But it sounds great on its own, and is a great noisemaker to boot, if you need it.
Good deals on ILF: too many to list, just ask!

Well, with that description you might end up needing more than one fuzz pedal, which is never a bad thing. The good news is that you can get more than one fuzz pedal in one fuzz pedal. This one is getting released again later this year:

Also, for what it's worth I'm not interested at all in a pedal that constantly makes noise while it's on like the Crystal Dagger and such.

What would adding multiple fuzzes to the same signal bring to the table?

But yeah, I meant more that you might not find everything you're looking for in fuzz in one pedal. You can cover a lot of ground with an Algal Bloom and AB-Synth from Fuzzhugger.

Wouldn't doubling up the fuzz make the sound incredibly saturated if not completely gainy? That is the exact opposite end of the spectrum that I want.

It took me hours to dial in the pink elephant that it could even be used with more than one note simultaneously without sounding like someone shoved a microphone in front of a PA system.

Sounds like the wrong Fuzz for you...

Try something open like a nice Fuck Overdrive or an Algal Bloom, or a Finger Print, or a Frazz Dazzler, or an Internet, or there is lots a stuff... What kinda sound or music are you going for???

I think the Pink Elephant is not the pedal for you. It seems like you need separate fuzz and octave pedals.

I am trying to get a kind of aggressive but extremely tight and dense sound. Something that roars but maintains the tonal characteristics of the clean sound.

The single notes should be cutting and thick, and it needs to be very good with chords in that you can hear each note play and not a mess of gain.

Something like a cranked overdrive but with more smoothness and "balls" if you will. Preferably something that responds well to picking dynamics (gets thicker but not necessarily louder when you dig in and shimmers like a clean tone when you play light).

Are there any good transparent octave pedals? I was recommended the Lovepedal Octave Planet / Believe, but I cannot find that anywhere.

Well here I go again but... Fuzzhugger makes the Upper which is an Octaveish pedal that you can add whatever fuzz or overdrive or whatever to its loop... The Algal Bloom of the Great Wall RBT or Huger might work... I'm pretty sure there are some EQD pedals that peeps could recommend, maybe if you check the Shark Tank someone could build you something... Noisemaker Effects has some stuff that might work...
