Purchase an old Jazzmaster and mod it to your taste.

Needs more pickups, you should try to slam another 3 of those bad boys in there, the same type you have in the bridge, and have it so you can have em all on at once.
Mean as-_-

I was seriously considering going with a neck only P-90 setup but couldn't find a solid bridge with no pickup hole.
I ended up putting a Dimarzio Super Distortion T in the bridge and a Harmonic Design Z-90 in the neck
Have you actually found a bridge like that?
I haven't found a bridge like that, no. In fact, I didn't really think it would look that good (only saw it in my head until I made the mock-up), but it's pretty neat. I searched around for one today, but I don't know if you can buy them before they are cut. Someone mentioned Callaham could probably do it.
Also not sure about the "Pre-CBS" headstock... it's either that or a regular Tele headstock.
MEC, how did yours turn out?
C
Yeah, I figured if I wanted a bridge like that it would have to be custom and probably end up
costing more than the pickup I was going to put in there.
A few companies do make Tele sized P-90's that fit the Tele bridge. I tried a Harmonic Design Super 90
first but ended up swapping it out for the Dimarzio. Also, I went with the Tele headstock.
I think mine turned out really well and I'm pretty happy with it. I'll try and post pics soon.

Glendale has it.

if there isn't one on the market you could always buy a tele bridge plate and weld over the pickups holes. it would give you an excuse to play with a welding torch which is always a good time.
EDIT: Glendale does have them but they're $100. if you have the tools to weld it, you could probably save some money? and it's more fun than typing in a credit card number...

This is making me want to craft some kind of bastard Tele bridge PU-only Jazsquire...

Hmm, if it works for you, why not! I love Telemasters, too, and the one I got recently has me thinking of other ones I'd like.
I'm not into the blocks and the big-ass headstock that comes with 'em, but stick a Tele neck on there and you got something.
and yeah, kosta, I'm thinking a white blonde Jazsquire would be BOSS. Also thinking a Telemaster with a Firebird neck pickup would hot sex on a platter.
how are you mocking these up, CBA?

Well, it's very technical and requires a lot of skill.
First, I type in something like "P-90" in Google.
Then I download all the pictures that look neat.
Then I take all of the pictures that I like and put them into a blank "flyer" in Mac Pages because I don't have a true image editor.
Then I cut and paste them and resize them.
Then I make it into a PDF.
Then I convert it to a JPEG.
Then I copy and paste even more stuff.
That's it.
It took me three hours to make the damn thing, but boy was it worth it.

I like the original idea as well. I imagine it as a real guitar and it would be super cool. The bridge would also probably look rad with an "ashtray" cover.

What do you think?
Mine would most likely have a white body, but everything else would be the same. You'll notice there is only one pickup, but I kept the Tele bridge.
