This.
I just don't love all handpainted stuff. I want to...Some of it is cool and some just looks like a little kid painted it (no offense to my kids who paint wonderful stuff...for a 7yo)
But I also fucking love the complex art that stickers can do.
The thing I like about painted enclosures is it makes the pedal look complete to me, be the graphic hand painted or a sticker. But really, as long as the pedal looks good, painted or not... I mean Fairfield Circuitry just have black lettering on blank silver enclosures and it works for them. As long as the aesthetic represents the sound of the pedal or the attitude of the builder I can dig it.

I like painted more generally. Stickers look cheap and sloppy to me, especially when they aren't centered properly. Guess it depends how they are painted or stickered.

Personally I love the look Fairfield has going on. The hammered lettering looks really industrial, which is fitting. I might end up going that route on my DIY pedals. The minimal look speaks to me. But like I already said, painting can be hit or miss. Stickers and screenprinting are consistent. If you go with stickers, it's nice to at least see a polished enclosure. Add a little shine, you know?

This. Plus I really like things like the engraved plates Basic Audio uses. I am not really a fan of stickers on bare unfinished enclosures.
Stickers can be nice but they usually just look really cheap to me. Especially the matte paper type that were on some Devi pedals that I had. I liked the graphics but hated the stickers.
In the end, I don't really care as long as I like the way it sounds.
