here's a GA. dude who, surprisingly, not many people (that I've talked to, anyway) have heard of. I think people may know the tunes, but not the name.

maybe he was a creep, but GODDAMN his tunes get to me. chill bumps, every time.
yep. Apparently, his music had such a profound impact on Cream that they paid for him to have some sort of operation. Love Skip James.

I don't think Sylvester Weaver was from GA. You may be confusing him with this man, who was associated with the Atlanta school:

Yep, had the 2 mixed up. Sly Weaver hails from Louisville, KY. Curley is the GA. cat. Speaking of ATL, who doesn't love some Blind Willie McTell, aka Blind Samuel, aka Georgia Bill?

Lyrically, I place him in a class all his own. His songwriting was witty and often humorous. And the expressiveness of his playing, along with his proficiency=GODDAMN (see "Atlanta Strut", where he emulates a slew of other instruments with his guitar).

Yeah, I love those Atlanta guitarists and their 12-string guitars.
I've been listening to this one a lot:

Chank, are you familiar with Barbeque Bob? If not, I recommend giving a listen. I'm about to head to class, but will post a vid or two later this evening. Another GA. 12 string guy, but damn good nonetheless

Yep, mr. blooghost, I love BBQ Bob. He may actually be my favorite out of all those guys. His playing's kinda limited in some ways, buy technically he's pretty high up there. I love his slidin' and especially that snappin' on the bass strings that he does. All those Atlanta guitarists are great players. I think my top three (in no particular order) are BBQ Bob, Curley Weaver and Blind Willie.

Yeah, well, there're a bunch of great fingerpickers we haven't gotten to yet.
Kottke is, of course, a monster.
Not sure Sandy Bull is generally considered to be an American Primitive. He was definitely ahead of his time and greatly under appreciated. That stuff he did with Billy Higgins is fantastic.
Again, this man isn't grouped with the American Primitive school, but he's a totally kickass fingerpicker:

Perhaps not American primitivism but bull always deserves a mention in a conversation regarding fahey and basho.
