Cheating, but any lite-distortion/heavy OD pedal will react to your playing dynamics and usually sound pretty brutal when you're beating the shit out of your strings.
good deals are here.
flesh couch is here.

I've loved playing my clone of the Zvex Woolly Mammoth/Mastotron. Fuzzy as you want, gated as you want, huge tone control range. And loud as fuck. ;)
There's no way I could justify buying a WM though. Way overpriced. The Mastotron is much more reasonable.
And a Green Russian Big Muff clone always does the job as well. The two on one board are pretty much all the bass fuzz I need. (notice I said need, not want)

I always liked the IC Muff better, because it's less wooly, and more grindy. I have a MadeByMike clone with the tone bypass switch. Pretty damn br00tz.

The one I made has a Mids pot, so I can get back all of the mids I want. Or scoop them for the doomz.

TAFM Rules.
But it's not really for me.
I'm not sure why, I just didn't bond with it.
It does feedback like a champ though.

Elements didn't jive with me, great OD.
But fuzz is my thing.
I'm not in a rock band anymore, so multiple ODs isn't necessary.
Actually, I'm seriously considering getting Alan at Mountainking give a Big Muff the Amp on Fire treatment.

Cool cool... you should definitely try the Huger, though. It's... HUGE!

Honestly, none of Tom's stuff ever really gets me.
To each his own.
I'm sorry if it looks like I'm just shutting everyone's recommendations down, I've just tried more fuzzes then I care to admit.
And as result, I'm being really picky.
What about Brassmasters?

Nobody here is ever going to criticize you for being picky about fuzz!

And I love my Malekko B:assmaster! It's like a rusty chainsaw bomb of fuzzitude.

Hmmmmmmm.
I don't have the coin for a Malekko.
A clone may do the trick.
So far, I have a bit of a shortlist:
Big Spider
Amp on Fire
Hair of The Dog
Eau Claire Thunder
Brassmaster
Keep those suggestions coming boys!!!

It appears we're on the same page (kind of). I, too, want to find the most brutal of bass fuzzes possible. I dime the gain every time, because why else? I'm not a guitarist. And I also haven't wanted much FuzzHugger stuff besides the Great Wall. That said, he came out with the Great Wall RBT, which I guess is like the next step of the Great Wall and the Fuzz Huger or something like that. I ordered one, and I'll PM you the video after I make a demo of it.

Always wanted to try the B:assmaster, but its been out of my price range, or more than I'd like to spend on a pedal.

I was just A/B-ing my BAT Pharaoh and my 3xfx Fatman and surprisingly, the Fatman is winning. Plus you get the added bonus of the photo eye for seriously insane theremin-like noise freakouts. I have a Fuzzmonger Mini coming in a couple of days, so we shall see how that shakes out.
Good B/S/T dealings with: univalve, DannDubbleEwe, Shish, ThePastRecedes, GiAnt_ROboT, chutneyfarmer, Muse FTW, robapov, skullservant, MaxMaps, psychedelicrelic, guitarslinger21, space6oy, theshoegazer, bongoben, osbornkt
